Michaels almost follows Martinez's lead, banging it high off the wall in LCF. Goes to third on a Paredes IF single, but the inning ends with them stranded at 1st and 3rd.

Nice grab by Martinez out in LF. Hard-hit line drive to LCF that he kept going after and got to. Decent throw back to first to chase Phillips back to first base, too.

Naturally, this time he drills one on a line off the yellow line of the Crawford Boxes for a single.

JD(m) almost had another!

Hits the yellow line on the front of the boxes. And got there in about 2/10ths of a second. He hit the snot out of it, but he's stuck with a single.

And Carlos takes care of that problem with the 6-4-3 ball.

Sizemore, Phillips, Cliff Lee, and Lee Stevens for Bartolo Colon and Tim Drew. That's what happens when a team thinks its getting contracted anyways I guess.

It was significantly off line. They weren't going to get Votto. Which is too bad, because from a timing standpoint they had him dead. But Q would have had to go a couple steps up the 1B line to get the ball and then come back to the plate, and that's asking too much.

Don't bunt with Altuve.  We've already learned this.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Is Schaefer coming off DL?

From MLB.com today:
Quote
Jordan Schafer said it's frustrating not to be able to get on the field after being traded from the Braves to the Astros in the Michael Bourn deal. He's still about a week or two away from returning, after injuring his left middle finger in a game on July 26.

Took my boys to the game last night.  1st game post trades.  My 8 year old had the two best lines of the night...

Upon looking at the Astros line up he said...

"At least we still have Bourgeois"

And when Altuve dove and just missed a ball late in the game he said...

"Dad, if he were taller he woulda had that"
