1-0 bottom 1 on a Corey Hart bomb to right. Carlos just lost a popup in the sun for a single. Despite the BRIGHT SUN IN THE FIELD Carlos does not have his glasses on. Smooth.

I see Happ is still trying to pitch up in the strike zone. Sigh.

Is anyone here a retrosheet expert? There must be some way to express the oddity of having a 3 hole hitter with zero homeruns 100+ games into the season (with qualifying at bats)

I see Happ is still trying to pitch up in the strike zone. Sigh.

I'm tuned in for a few minutes, now. I'll see what I can do, but that usually means Happ bounces balls to the plate instead of being up too high.

Looked like Wllace tried to get some loft on that swing, but that just made it a routine pop fly. I kindof miss the Wallace that only got singles and doubles, but hit the ball >1/3 of the time.

Threw an extra 10 pitches thanks to that horsedickery in the field.

Sadly, that could have been much better or much worse after that inning. A play/pitch or two made a huge difference in what happened.

Unless Altuve can make it into the game tonight, there is no chance the Astros can get the offense going enough.

I'm just sitting here thinking that the team has two of the team's best three hitters sitting safely on the bench at the moment. If they trade Bourn and Wandy they could lose three quarters of their remaining games. Or more.

You know, I do like Angel in there tonight. Not the greatest, but he doesn't make mistakes. Maybe they think putting Sanchez and Altuve in the middle of the infield too much, they may create the end of the world singularity thing.

Wolf got a K of Bourn with a 57 mph pitch last night.  JD said it was the slowest he'd ever seen in the majors

Bourn was still laughing about it 10 minutes later. It was fun to watch.

I'll be curious to see what the 3B battle looks like in spring training next year.

I saw Jim Bouton throw almost an entire game in the 50's back in 1979. And he hung in there for seven innings, pitching J.R. Richard to a draw.

In my opinion, if I were scouting, he doesn't have "plus" stuff, at least consistently. His hammer can be alright, but it ain't Wandy's. His heater is 89-92-average. His changeup is really the key pitch for him, because I've seen signs of a good one, but just not often enough.

In fairness to Happ, he's got far better stuff than Maddux, who had a 85 mph heater. However, as far as command goes, you can't put Happ and Maddux in the same sentence, even the same paragraph.

I know how to fix what's wrong with Wallace...bench him 3 out of every 5. Which looks likely with JD about to take over in LF.
