2011 TV ratings, Astros in the bottom 5 now.
« on: July 11, 2011, 09:10:26 am »
http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2011/07/11/Media/MLB-ratings.aspx

Astros viewership down 34%, only bigger drop is Tampa.

Astros are now 5th to last in # of average viewers, only teams with less viewers, A's, Dodgers, Nationals and Angels.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Speaking of commercials, they got rid of Daddy's Baby girl....but now they torture us with that stupid Flash Mob commercial for a cellphone provider over and over and over.

Surprised to see the Dodgers and the Angels so low in ratings. I know neither team's doing awesome right now, but that seems odd.

Shit, the Angels are only a game back in their division. The Astros are drawing more viewers than they are? Crazy.

I'll start with:

A good bowel movement.

While the games can be tough to watch, JD and Brownie still provide quality entertainment to me.  In terms of TV watching, I would take those 2 and baseball over anything else on.

I watch because I love the Astros, but Brown and DeShaies make it pleasurable for sure. They are the best in baseball, in my opinion.

I keep it on for background noise while I read or mess around on the computer.

But with NCAA 12 coming out tomorrow that will wane over the next few weeks.

When they're playing the Rangers, a hard kick in the 'nads is more fun.

I enjoy watching:
-Bourn hit (and run, and field)
-Wallace hit
-Pence hit (even though he is hitting .330, I am still pleasantly surprised every time he takes a ball hard the other way, or ropes one over the CF'er's head.)
-Keppinger hit (this is made exponentially more enjoyable by first imagining a Bill Hall AB)
-Wandy pitch
-Barmes field (and when he hooks a double into the LF corner)
-Melancon pitch
-Norris pitch
-Lyles adjust to MLB (though I could understand if they gave him more AAA time)
-seeing scoreless innings from any of the other pitchers in the box score (it is hard to actually watch them pitch though)
-and of course JD and Brownie

Did I miss anything? Of course, my viewing attendance has not been great this year either, but that's not all due to the team.

I watch mostly when Charles is being loud and I don't want to put on anything I need to hear. I usually switch away once it's obviously over (surprisingly, haven't been burned on this yet).

Ditto many of the previous sentiments.
Brown and DeShaies are always top notch. Bagwell in the booth is a bonus.
Bourn's ease, grace and speed are always entertaining as is Pence's oblivious enthusiasm.
Plus Sanchez - a ballplayer from the top of his hat to the bottom of his spikes.

I didn't have the courage to say it out loud, but the driver looks a whole lot like Thunder Pants. Surely Bourn could get his own breakfast and maybe even have his own car, so it must be Boojwah.

I'm just thinking, the whole "my momma" thing is a ruse.  No one this side of Oedipus has his real mother refer to him as "cuddle bear" in such a manner.  That's kind of creepy-sick, you know?

But . . . a mother-figure, who stood steadfast by him when the meanie GM and the baseball people wanted to trade him away for prospects, who anointed him 'Face of the Franchise' and has stood by anjd protected him ever since . . . that is someone I could picture gurgling and coo-ing over Pence and calling hiim "cuddle bear" with such powerful affection.

Then again, that's kind of creepy-sick, too, if you think about it.
