Ranger Fan dies in fall

If you have young children, you may want to avoid this story today.  I wish I hadn't read it.

One of the local Austin sports anchors led off the highlights package with the clip of the guy falling, and I damn near thought he was about to make a joke... it was very nonchalant, right up until he said they guy had passed away. I couldn't tell if he knew beforehand or if he was just reading the prompter.

Very sad story.

I wish I hadn't read it.

Lead story on the today show, with video.  I REALLY wish I hadn't seen that.

on-air talent typically write their own copy to go along with the clips, so he probably knew.

This is truly horrifying and tragic.  I feel so bad for the son and for the rest of the family.  I also hope that Josh Hamilton is getting the support he needs, I can only imagine how he must be feeling.

This game originally was not scheduled for last nite. It was a make-up game of a rainout earlier this year which was just a few outs away from being an official game with the Rangers way ahead.

I watched the OTL report on ESPN.  I made me sick to my stomach because of how this tragedy happened in front of his six year old son.  I am sadden by the whole thing for the family.

So terrible. I saw the recap of the pre-game ceremonies late last night. Both teams wore black ribbons on their jerseys and held a moment of silence to remember the man.

I saw one news story (I wish I could find it) where some yahoo reporter asked Nolan about pending charges relating to the incident. Charges?!? Really?

I still can't understand how it hasn't happened many times before. With all the drunk fans at ballparks. And this guy was sober, and a fireman.

I have been able to avoid seeing any video of the the incident, so far. That poor boy.
