The Red Lion.  Wow.

Nice save, and thank you for a full-blown preview, late or not.

I like Karstens' pic, too.

Nice job.

The Red Lion.  Wow.

Red Lion.  It's a great spot for lunch, because there's a car wash directly across the street.

The steak night there is pretty good too.

The Queen Vic has replaced the Red Lion for my porter and vindaloo cravings.

Both do "Keema Fries", so I am regularly torn.  Red Lion has marginally less sucky parking.  Queen Vic is closer to my house.  Decisions...decisions...

If it is the same establishment (and I am pretty sure it is), The Red Lion was a regular stop on the way to the 'Dome back in the 1970s, when the old man used to take the youngster strosrays to games.  I had my first Yorkshire pudding there, I believe.

So it has tradition going for it.

Yeah, I've wondered if this is the same establishment (although it's obviously in a different place now) that I remember on South Main across from the dear departed Shamrock Hilton. They used to have an old-style London cab parked out front.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

It's currently on Shephard between Westheimer and W. Gray.  Across from Kennealy's.  Don't know if it's the same establishment.

The Red Lion to which I refer is new(ish); not the one of strosrays' flashback memory.

Then it's not the same one.  Even if it's the same, it's not the same.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.
