Maybe they swap Wallace with Barmes for a while, if they're worried about putting too much pressure on Brett.
I'd bet onBournBarmesPenceLeeJohnsonWallaceHallCastroPHall splitting the two young lefty hitters.
In late-breaking news ...BournBarmesPenceLeeJohnsonWallaceHallPTowles
Line up? Who the hell are these people?
The usual suspects? Or was this a Butch Cassidy reference?
I saw it already this morning.
There is no #3 hitter on this team.
Why don't you guys just switch to self-flagellation? It's got to be less painful.
Am I the only one who thinks Johnson in the 2 hole wouldn't be the worst thing in the world?
I'd rather see him earn the #3, but he is probably better suited to #6. Too many swinging strikes for a #2.
Yes.
Wallace seems like he COULD be a good contact typw hitter for the 2nd spot, but he may not be there, yet. Question: Is there any thoughts on having a lefty batting second when you have a player like Bourn in front of him? Wallace seems patient, and could be good at contact, but is it good to have a right hand batter that can wait a little longer to push it through the right side in case of a steal/hit and run?
It ain't perfect, but that lineup...that lineup right there...is pretty fucking ugly any way you look at it.
"Better suited" and "the spot which scores the 2011 Astros the most runs" aren't necessarily the same, IMO.
I thought the preference was to have a lefty #2 hitter, all other qualities being equal, because he'd pull it to the right side.

A LH hitter will not try to pull the ball on a hit and run. The SS will gen be covering.

Wallace has a leg up on everyone in this department.
bring back Jason Jennings!
Shit.First Towles, now Jennings? Is it "Celebrate the Purpura era" day on the TZ?
Max Sapp might have been a good fit for the 2.
I liked the Jennings deal when it was made.
I just gave myself a small stroke.
N...T...T...A...W...W...T !!!!!
Hot damn, the season has begun
So, there's no #2, no #3, a metric shit-ton of #6's (none of whom will likely bat 6th), and the #8 is out for the year. But everything's square with #1, #4 and #7... unless #1 duplicates the middle of 2010, or #4 duplicates the first half. Cool.

Pence’s preference is to hit high in the order so that his base running can have more of an impact on a game.Captain, we have a saboteur on board.

We must give this American a wide berth.
The worry is the Americans. If we meet the right sort, this will work.We get some buckaroo...
So, are we going to use "Crazy Ivan" to describe Pence's baserunning or his routes to balls?
Fly balls. When the inning is in the bottom of the hour, he always breaks to starboard the right wrong.
