Who's in for Sonic on Monday?
« on: February 25, 2011, 12:16:19 pm »
Just a reminder to those of us who celebrate the first Spring Training game with a trek to Mecca---Monday is footlong chili cheese time!

do y'all meet at the same Sonic, or is it a meeting in spirit kind of thing?  I will be glad to gorge myself on Sonic Monday, but cannot guarantee where I will be when that takes place...

We don't meet.  We just figured out that a bunch of us had this tradition on the first Spring Training game, sort of by accident.

Nope.  This fulfills my one coney per year limit.

I hope Sonic still carries those big-ass quarter-pound chili dogs, because if they do that's what I'm getting.

Holee Shite Muslim!!!

My traditional footlong chili cheese, tater tots (with cheese) and Route 44 Lemon Berry Slush is a whopping 1890 calories, with 85 g of fat and 252 carbs.  That is like 3 or 4 days for me, thank goodness Spring Training only happens once a year.

I've already made plans. I've been thinking about it since pitchers and catchers reported.

Of course, at some point, I wonder if it wouldn't be better to just make some dogs here at work. Something I might survive.
It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of 'em was one kinda sombitch or another.

Maybe you should leave the cheese off the tots. That's what I'm going to do.

I'm going to forgo the Route 44 in favor of a large Cherry Lime-aid.

Tots without cheese? Next you will tell me no mustard and onions on the coney.

Why would you put mustard on a chili dog?

No, the correct choice would be Shiner, but my local Sonic is fresh out.

I can't believe respectable Texans are calmly discussing mixing chili and mustard.

How funny. The 13-yr-old came home with a fundraiser today... Sonic discount cards. $5 apiece, good at any Sonic.

Hmm...Sonic's website says there's one in Raleigh.  I guess I might be able to make it.  Surprising, since I don't think I've seen one driving around since I moved here.

If not, I ate lunch in the bar from 'Bull Durham' today...that's a pretty damn good way to start off a season, if I do say so myself!

Mitch's.  Cool little place, though it sort of turned into a Bull Durham shrine.  At any rate, if there's no Sonic around, there's no better place to eat lunch on a nice spring day in Raleigh than the Char-Grill.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Can I get away with substituting a Berliner Currywurst?  No Sonic here.  (McDonalds & Burger King, however, have made their unfortunate appearances.)
