For the Singlemalt Drinkers
« on: November 20, 2010, 08:37:08 pm »
Found this last night and almost bought it but decided to see if I could get someone to vouch for it first (it ain't cheap).

Cadenhead's Dumbarton 1969, Sherry Wood

Anyone here tried it?   If so, worth it?

I have not tried it, but have heard of it.  Though Dumbarton was/is a Lowland distillery, the reviews I've read say it's anything but in the Lowland style.  "Sweet" and "bold" tend to describe it the most.  I've seen it going for around $250/bottle, but it may have gone up recently.

On a side note, Dumbarton is not a single malt, but rather a "single grain" whisky, which means they use corn or other grains in addition to the barley.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

You would if you drank enough of it.

If you kept it locked in a cabinet then Mark wouldn't drink it.
