According to Baseball-Reference.com, Alex has 992 games at third, and Lance has 717 at first.

I don't doubt that, but seriously, Darling said it as if Berkman had never played first base before and would surely fuck up anything hit at him. I think it's safe to say that by the time you've played 500 games at a particular position in the big leagues you know just about everything there is to know about the position. If Darling wants to talk about shaky Yankee first basemen, he should talk about Swisher.

Dude, I had this thread completely tee'd up 10 minutes ago with the stats and all and thought better of it thinking I was being a sensitive homer.  I'm glad you posted it.  It wasn't so much what he said but how he said it...with a hint of ignorance muddled with condescension.  It was like he thought Lance was a DH forced to play first because Tex went down...for his whole career.

That was exactly what pissed me off so much. He said it as if Berkman were the last person on their bench and had never done anything other than DH and would obviously be completely out of his element at first base. I mean, he's 34 (or whatever) and played his entire career in the NL: what did Darling think he had been doing all those years?

I don't want Nolan to lead the Rangers to a World Series victory before the Astros win one.  It's that simple.

My thoughts exactly, though my hatred of the Yankees makes me want to see the Rangers lose the WS rather than the ALCS...
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

Kerry fucking Wood.  Fuck him.

I still consider him a FTCub. I don't care whose uniform he's wearing now. FTC.

Those dumbasses behind homeplate are holding the Texas flag upside-down.

Morons. You're supposed to fly the flag upside down as a distress signal.  Kinda like game 5.

The moment the Rangers win a World Series is the moment the Astros take a back seat to the Rangers as the baseball team in Texas. I am sure that if the Rangers win you will even see a ton of Rangers gear on people even in Houston. I also hope the fucking Chron doesn't put a ton of exposure on the Rangers on the front of the paper tomorrow, but I bet they will. I was in Dallas when the Astros won the NLCS and the Dallas Morning News only had some small print on the front page and in the sports section only had a small blurb about it. Knowing how shitty the paper is here it will probably have a big write up because the Chron sucks with its use of AP/evergreen stories.

On the other hand, I could see a Rangers' championship serving as a wake-up call to Drayton: SEE THIS? THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT!

How they did it was to acquire one the best pitchers in baseball. No Cliff Lee, no WS. Drayton's been there before.

I don't want Nolan to lead the Rangers to a World Series victory before the Astros win one.  It's that simple.

Hate to break it to you, but it's gonna happen.  Rangers are the class of these playoffs.

I don't like it, but they do seem like they are going to win it all.  I'm trying to prepare myself for them to be the first Texas team to win a World Series.

Yep.  Top to bottom they've been the best team.
