Annual pilgrimage to big D
« on: October 01, 2010, 07:56:25 am »
I'm headed up I-35 in about an hour for my once a year trip to Dallas.  Will stop in West for some Czech culture and kolaches.  We should check into the Adophus at about noon.  Should head over to the West End mid aftrernoon to check out the Talkzone broadcast from the Hoffbrau, drink a few brews and hollar at some Okies.  Reckless Kelly is playing a free concert at nine at the corner of Corbin and Lamar.

First thing Saturday we'll walk over to the Fairgrounds and try to redeem the enormous number of coupons my wife ordered on line(no standing in the coupon line for us) for weak beer and Fletcher's corn dogs.  Then to the Cotton Bowl.  After the game against UCLA I'm worried as hell about OU.  Our offense is pedestrian at best and Greg Davis' approach is mind boggling but the defense is good.  I'm not as convinced as Aklie that we will get our hides tanned and am hopiing for a good game.  Either way we'll be there when they play the Eyes at the end.

The weather should be spectacular.   Will take in the car shows and the crafty exhibits.  Have a nice meal at Morton's after the game.  With the exception of the years I was expatriated, I have been doing this since '76.  Win or lose I love going to the Dallas every year for this game. Looking forward to a great weekend and HOOK 'EM!

Thanks RB.  Made it to the hotel with no issues.  I can't recall the last time there was as little construction on I-35 as there was today.  I always thought it was a given just like the Gulf Freeway.
