Astros in non-HD
« on: September 29, 2010, 07:18:45 pm »
Any reason why the last 10 games or so have not been in HD?
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

On the road it's 50/50 whether the games will be HD.

I thought pretty much all of them were in HD.  I guess not.

They know at the beginning of the year if it will be in HD.  Fox Sports apparently has a limited number of traveling HD cameras.  Perhaps they're now more likely to be assigned to college fb

Judging by their broadcasts in prior years, a thick layr of gauze is wrapped over the lens prior to use for football.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Fox' HD for football is way inferior to NBC and CBS.

And there is to excuse for being inferior to NBC at anything.

They chose to spend their money on robot animations instead.

I've had really spotty HD coverage all year, even on home games, from FSSW and Dish Network. I also saw a report yesterday where Dish Network and Fox are in a pissing match over a new contract, and Dish may lose all the Fox regional sports affiliates.

I saw a commercial for this on AT&T Uverse, too.

Fox has pulled all their regional sports channels off Dish Network now.

On the Fox Sports Southwest channel where I always watch the Astros, (and all the other regional channels as well) it now says:

"FOX has pulled this channel after demanding an outrageous rate increase from DISH Network. Call FOX and ask for your channel back! 310-369-1000."

I'll be calling both Fox and Dish, because I'm paying for this service and instead I get a pissing match.

I guess I'm done watching the Astros this season. Fuck the Cubs and fuck Fox.

Was this kind of posturing common before LIN-TV went after Suddenlink and Time Warner?  Seems like ever since then every other channel is having a $$$ dispute with the cable/satellite companies.

Yes, but increased conglomeration and the decline in OTA has made it worse.

"We're going to be the ones to gouge this baseball fan in Arkansas."

"No WE'RE going to be the ones to gouge this baseball fan in Arkansas"

"Fuck you, it's our shit he's willing to pay too much money to watch."

"No, fuck you.  It's OUR shit that brings the shit he's willing to pay too much money to watch into his home."

"Oh yeah, well see how much this baseball fan enjoys being gouged when there's NO BASEBALL on his TV.  We're off the air starting now."
