Bottom 3: Narveson (LHP)

Myers: goes down (on strikes?).

Bourn: robbed of an infield single on a very nice play by 2B Weeks.

Keppinger singles.

Spaz (aka Mr. will soon find out if he is, in fact, smarter than a 5th grader): pops out to right center. 3 outs, 1 stranded.

End 3: MIL 0, HOU 1

B4: Narveson on the hill

Carlos: Blisters one of the Crawford Box wall. Ball caromed right back to Braun, who was able to hold him to a single.

Johnson: flies out to right. 1 out, Lee on 1B.

Wallace: Took the count full, but struck out looking at a good pitch on the outside corner.  2 outs, Lee on 1B.

Manzella: lined single into center.  2 outs, runners at 1B and 2B.

Q: Grounds out on an FC to 2B. 3 outs, 2 stranded.

End 4: MIL 1, HOU 1

Myers strikes out to open up the B5.  Bourn follows that with an out of some kind (wasn't paying attention).  Keppinger on base again (this time on a 4-pitch walk). Spaz walks on 5-pitches. 2 outs, runners on 1B and 2B. Lee pops up the 0-2 pitch to the catcher. 3 outs.

Oddly enough, Myers makes it out of the 6th inning (30 time in 30 starts this season). Brewers go down in order with 2 strikeouts (9 on the evening for Myers) and on a weak grounder to CJ.

T7: Myers back for another.

Lucroy singles (3rd hit on the night) and is sac bunted to 2B. 1 out, runner on 2B.

Weeks goes down on strikes (20th of the evening). 2 outs, runner on 2B.

Escobar draws the count full but flies out to right to end the threat.

Via McTaggart:  Other pitchers since 1920 to begin season w/at least 30 straight 6 IP or more games: Carlton, Schilling, Gibson, Seaver, Jenkins, McDowell

Which is basically:  badass, badass, badass, badass, badass, Roger?  Or Jack?  Probably Jack.  But still.  Really?

Limey sighting.  Also, Carlos is one of the best two strike hitters you'll see.

That swing at the first pitch was something he did all through the first half of the season. I'm glad he's back.

B7 (2 outs, bases juiced): MIL 1, HOU 4

B7: Former independent baller Kintzler (RHP) making his second MLB appearance (results not withstanding, the kid has some decent stuff)

Blum (PH for Myers): works the count full and then rips a single into right. None out, runner on 1B. Bourgeois in to PR for Blum.

Bourn: Kintlzer with a a quick delivery to the plate, so Mills has Bourn sac bunting. Bourgeois to 2B, 1 out.

Keppinger: Walks on 5 pitches. 1 out, runners on 1B and 2B.

Spaz: strikes out swinging (swings at 2 out of the zone there). 2 outs, runners on 1B and 2B.

Lee: lines the 1-2 pitch up the middle, Bourgeois scores. 2 outs, runners on 1B and 2B. MIL 1, HOU 2

BFJ: singles up the middle, Keppinger scores. Ball gets away from CF allowing Lee and CJ to advance. 2 outs, runners at 2B and 3B. MIL 1, HOU 3

Wallace: Intentionally walked.  2 outs, bases juiced.

MANzella: walks on 5 pitches, Lee scores. 2 outs, bases still juiced. MIL 1, HOU 4

Pitching change

B7 (2 outs, bases juiced): MIL 1, HOU 4

That is an all-time bad two minute drill performance.  Keller just walked out a full yard short on 4th down without a defender in sight.

Sanchize is amazing.  He can't get the snap off, he floats his TE right into Ray Lewis, he bobbles the snap and nearly throws an interception, and then he leads the 4th down wide open completion a yard short of the marker.  I love watching this team.

Really?  Up by 3?

Thought so anyway. B7, two catchers on the bench, Q was crap at the plate tonight, and the heart of the Brewers order coming up in the T8.  Myers was already gone from the game, so really no need to keep Q in there.  I'll stand by my initial 'WTF Millsie' on that one...

Cooper? What is the big deal with trying to win the ballgame? You'd think that I was blaspheming or something.

I just don't think a rebuilding team pitching a rookie is grounds for complaint.

Lyon is unavailable due to pitching 4 days in a row.

Maybe he figured that a 3-run lead was enough of a luxury to let him keep his best defensive catcher in there. In my opinion this wasn't a Cooper-level head-scratcher.

Mills has noted recently that he is somewhat concerned about the innings/appearances that his relievers are piling up (Lopez especially), and said he'd be trying to cut down on 'em a bit for some folks (e.g. wasn't really going matchups yesterday as much as trying to limit innings).  Given that Lyon has been in a lot lately, I wouldn't expect to see him in the 9th either.

Abad came in as the lefty just to create additional agita for Mr. Happy.  He gave up a leadoff double and was pulled, presumably for Lindstrom.

Definitely doesn't rise to the level of a Cooper WTF, but given that Castro is not much of a defensive downgrade from Q I don't agree on the defense issue. Its not like he was removing Bourn for Jason Michaels or something along those lines...

But still.  Really?

Probably "Sudden Sam". Also a little bit of a badass.
