No noise in the top of the first. In the bottom, Bourn singles and steals second on the next pitch.

Ankiel high-hops one to Wallace, who gets Glaus at second but the return is too late. Runner on first, two down, Alex Gonzalez up.

Norris has a hard-breaking slider tonight.

Gonzalez breaks his bat on one of those sliders and it drops down the line in left. Ankiel legs it in and scores ahead of the throw from Sanchez but Castro throws to Kepp and Gonzalez is caught in a rundown...except Kepp holds the ball too long and Gonzalez is safe at third past the tag.

Minor singles to right BUT PENCE THROWS HIM OUT AT FIRST!

wasn't it a fastball?  how do you roll over an outside fastball when you are trying to get a runner from 2nd to 3rd?  Just stay on it and hit it to the right side to move the fucking runner over.  And no, I've never played professional baseball before in my life...(or even not professional baseball)

Patty should make that blonde chick the Fan of the Game, and then let JD have a few words with Lippy.

He is, but this Minor is pretty good. He got dinked this inning.

Except the hit by Wallace.  That was a pea.

Nope.  A neighbor's 4 undeveloped acres of cedar.  We're trying to sell now, but I always said I was going to buy the land and clear it to make a little par 3, but never got the chance.  I'm going to miss that when we leave.  I'm also going to miss the ~3 5-gallon buckets full of golf balls I've scattered to every corner of that land!

Okay CJ, that's not exactly how I thought you would get the bases cleared, but I'll take it too!

Johnson clears the bases... 2b + error by the catcher trying to get Lee at 3b, throws it all the way to the foul pole.

CJ singles; two runs score. Poor decision to go home by Hinske. McCann compounds the error by tossing the ball in the LF corner. All runners score. 10-4 Astros. A comedy of errors.

Yeah, why use your closer in the first game of a series when it's a blowout?

Maybe, but you risk him throwing too many pitches and not being available in a save opprtunity.

Probably just to keep him sharp. He hasn't had many innings lately.

DAMNIT!  I stepped out for ~15 mins to hit some golf balls and came back to find that rather than still being paused, the DVR had switched to record something else.  Hope someone captured this

One thing I've noticed about Wallace, he doesn't seem to chit-chat with anyone at first.

Pendergast with the foul bro breakdown:

So here we have Bo, in all of his douchecap-wearing, chach-beard-sporting glory -- moment of truth arrives, Astro third baseman Chris Johnson hits a screamer down the line, you have plenty of time to react to it. How do you handle it? If you're the average fan, you give best effort to come up with it barehanded. If you catch it, you catch it. But make the effort.

If you're Bo, how do you handle it? Naturally, you get out of the way at the last minute, let the ball peg your girlfriend, blame the error on "losing the ball in the lights," and then keep the ball for yourself after you pick it up off the ground. "Thanks for knocking that line drive down with your rib cage, BABE! FINALLY, I caught a ball at a game!"
"Holy shit, Mozart. Get me off this fucking thing."

Actually, this part was better:

Forgive me if I'm not ultra sympathetic to the plight of Sarah, the girlfriend (who based on her soundbites may or may not be Les Miles' niece). Honestly, dating a dude with a flat-billed chachcap tipped deep to the right at a 45-degree angle and then complaining about him bailing on a foul ball that beans you is a little like having unprotected sex with Paris Hilton and then complaining about the burning sensation the next morning. Red flags everywhere, Sarah. Common sense warned you. You chose not to listen.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.
