Nice addition for the Rangers.  Davis seems like a decent enough platoon player but has been pretty unimpressive since Smoak was traded.

Assuming Kinsler eventually returns to form, Rangers seem capable of beating anyone in a playoff series.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I will be rooting for the Rangers the rest of the season.

Teagarden just got his second hit of the season: a serious poke over the Rangers' bullpen for a 2-run homer.

matt capps to the twins for highly regarded wilson ramos plus minor leaguer.

seems like a high price to pay for capps.

I wonder if they dangled Ramos' name as a possible Oswalt return. Is he one of those "great bat, can catch OK, bat will still be great if he has to move to 1B though" guys, like Jesus Montero, or is he more of a Jason Castro clone, ie. defense ahead of offense but should be a very good hitter for a catcher?

Seems more like Castro from what I've read.

So, understandably, the Astros would've said No thanks, what else you got? if such an offer was made.

It is surprising that a guy with that much hype would go for a so-so closer like Capps (though he is only 26).

It speaks volumes to the dearth of quality relievers available right now, especially late-inning guys.  Rauch isn't a guy who's going to miss a lot of bats and with his recent struggles, the Twins felt they had to do something.

Indeed. And combined with Ramos not having much value to the Twins (bat isn't spectacular, and they've already got some scrub locked up at catcher), you can see how this deal got made. Should work out for both teams.

Hmm, really? Mr. Wade, I think your phone's ringing again. Mr. McLane, I think Ed might be asking you about paying part of another contract soon, to trade a certain set-up man for some nice prospects...

The money shouldn't be as much an issue anymore.  The 3rd year was the aberration from the late inning reliever market.  After what's owed for the remainder of this season, 2yr/$10mm isn't bad for Lyons.

I am rooting for the Judge to deny ownership to Nolan so he can be our daddy.

I haven't been paying close attention, but it doesn't appear that the Pirates have consummated their annual two-for-nothing trade. Who should I expect to see involved there?
