Utility All-Star
« on: July 05, 2010, 06:50:42 pm »
All the hub-bub surrounding Infante's selection to the All-Star Team over the likes of Joey Votto (OPS LEAGUE LEADER! ARGGHH!) is explained.  Manuel says he was directed by the commissioner's office to select an actual utility player under a new rule for this year's game that each team can designate a "utility" player, who can return to the game once taken out if there's no other available position player and somebody is injured.

Keppinger was robbed!

Also, who's the American league designee?  Hill?  Bartlett? Wigginton?  And wouldn't it make more sense to designate a starter to be available to return?

How about just telling the fucking manager to manage like it's a real game?

Because it's *not* a real game.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Or maybe she meant hate hal... Which could either be the stock symbol for Halliburton or the evil computer from 2001.

Joey Votto came through with the best quote of the All Star game:

Quote
“I don’t like the Cubs,” Votto said. “And I’m not going to pat anybody with a Cubs uniform on the back. But because he made that really cool play, it turned out to be a really cool experience. I’m really glad we got the win today.”
