With the new emphasis on the Dominican and the splashy signings I thought I'd open a thread for the DSL Astros.  They start up today, 5/29.  Discuss the DSL Astros here.

I think those two pitchers they just signed, Montero and Feliz, are there.  I don't know about the shortstop Bautista.

Trying to keep track of Astros (reported) international signings since 2008. As always, if I've missed a name (or there are other pre-'08 big money signs in the DSL) please feel free to add.

Signings estimated at over $100,000:

Darwin Rivera, 2008 (3B) - $320,000: on DSL roster but only has 1 AB (stats LINK);
Yonathan Mejia, 2009 (2B) - $370,000: active (stats LINK);
Kirby Peña, 2009 (LHP) - $350,000: Not on DSL roster;
Enderson Franco, 2009 (RHP) - between $300,000 and $400,000: active with 2 starts (stats LINK);
Michael Feliz, 2010 (RHP) - $400,000: not on DSL roster;
Jose Montero, 2010 (RHP) - $350,000: active with 3 starts (stats LINK);
Jean Carlos Batista, 2010 (SS) - unknown: not on DSL roster; and
Kelvin Vizcaino, 2010 (OF) $250,000: active (stats LINK).

Signings estimated at under $100,000:

Alexander Martinez, 2009 (RHP): not on DSL roster; and
Luca Martone, 2009 (IN): not on DLS roster.

Chia-Jen Lo, 2008 (RHP) - $250,000:  at Corpus Christi, disabled list
Chan Jong Moon, 2009 (SS/2B) - $350,000:  starting 2010 season with GCL Astros

17 year old 2B prospect Yonathan Mejia continues to put the hurt on DSL pitching. Was a HR short of a cycle yesterday, going 3-6, 2R, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI.  Box score.  He's batting .299 on the season, but needs to cut the strikeouts down a bit (29 over 134 PA).  Looking forward to watching this kid as he progresses. 

Season to date: 35 G, 134 AB, 17 R, 40 H, 9 2B, 3 3B, 2 HR, 19 RBI, 61 TB, 6 BB, 29 SO, 2 SB, 2 CS, .299 AVG, .336 OBP, .455 SLG, .791 OPS.  Mejia stats link

Whoops, just saw the news that they had a total of 4 players suspended... well, that is bad luck.

Also coming off suspension:

Gabriel Garcia also came off suspension and is on the Greeneville Roster.

It's hard to muster much animosity towards a 16 year-old kid for taking PEDs. Hopefully its a learning experience for him and he can move on.
