Berkman on the team's losing record: "For me the toughest part about it is it reflects poorly on (Mills) and that couldn't be further from the truth. He's been great and needs to be here a long time."  LINK

I like tonight's lineup. But can we scratch out the four runs we need to have a shot at winning?

Great positioning on Eckstein by the Stros. Carlos standing at about the corner of the Crawford boxes.  Eckstein sends one in front of the pen, but Carlos with a good jump and positioning makes the catch easily.  Nice to see.

Bud goes 3-1 then 3-2 to each of the batters, but puts them down in order.

Middle 1: SD 0, HOU 0

Footer says it's Steve Sparks. JD is at his daughter's graduation.

Yeah, he's doing fine.  Bringing some good pitcher/dugout insight to the game.  You just can't expect to compare to JD.

Funny, towards the end of the _first at bat_ of the game he mentioned how Norris was settling down from "earlier in the game"

Nope. The Astros may not score four runs over the entire fucking series.

I hope they don't waste this series' four runs by getting them tonight.

Is it too early to start wondering what Anthony Rendon will look like in Brick Red??

Rendon is pretty studly, but when would they get him? He doesn't really fall in the top 33, does he? When do the 'Stros pick after that?

Yes, because I hope they've changed the uniforms by then.

With the 1st overall pick in 2011... (was being a smartass with the original comment)

ETA: I think the Astros next pick in 2010 is 58 (may be 56)

Man, if you want to see some long faces, check out the Bruins-Flyers hockey game. Philly was up 4-3, and then gave up the tying goal with 15 seconds left. Everybody in the stands has an expression that says "I knew it would happen".

Our offense is moribund. Putrid. I'm sick of us making young pitchers look like Cy Young.

Speaking of young pitchers, what do you think about your boy Anthony Ranaudo.  Many say he's a lock for being in the top 10 picks this year (some putting him in top 5).  How would he look in an Astros uniform?

He looks good out there. I've got a question about his durability.
