It's not so much a cost savings as a time-to-market thing.  It would probably allow a new post to be released 100's of milliseconds faster.

Mr. Happy, vapid is harsh. go pick on a grandma your own size.

Fredia,
I share your frustration with the ever increasing DL. The 2010 Astros seem as injury-prone as Brett Myer's wife.

As to saving time, i really can't get on board with that. My decision to post on this board, yes, my love of baseball of itself--especially my love of the Astros--reflects a firm commitment to occasionally waste my time like a Mexican Narcotraficante wastes oxygen by breathing. Yes, I am here to waste my time with a vengeance. and yours too, of course.

Nice to see coach in mid-season form for opening day!
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

Okay, Clarkie, what word would you have used? And did you somehow offend all of grandmotherdom by insinuating that Fredia is the way she is because she's a grandmother. I have a sneaking feeling that Fredia was the way she is long before the first grandchild popped out. And, by the way, fuck off.

It's like Astros crack.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Dear Mr. Spack,
You did call me a number of years back. Again, this is the second handle I have had at SNS/ orangewhoopass /astrosconnection. The first was “headhunter”-- you called me back in 2005 (or thereabouts) when I banished to Cleveland, Ohio.  You said that some high school kids had been posting flames on the board and you wanted to make sure that I wasn’t some teenage jackass looking for trouble. We spoke about Texas, the Astros and some other such stuff until you felt satisfied that I was a right-thinking Astros fan.

As I stated before, I changed my handle because I forgot my password and didn’t want people to think I was involved with the new headhunter segment.

Regardless, I’m a little surprised by the intensity of your reaction to my posts. It seems stronger than the hazing that you generally pile on clarks.

I appreciate and respect the various iterations of SNS and enjoy the columns, game previews and recaps. Apparently my attempts at humor have gone beyond what you think is appropriate. Consider me chastened and contrite. But I hope you understand my confusion on a board where “go fuck yourself” is a more common greeting than “good morning.” Not that there’s anything wrong with that. So go fuck yourself or good morning or whatever you think best.

But as to my spleen…obviously it’s something I can live without.

Actually, your recollection for facts is a bit off, lemme help you out:

1. No one "called you".
2. Spack doesn't call nor speak to anyone, including me... he does what he wants to do and if he feels like explaining it, he will and if he doesn't, he won't.
3. Spack doesn't care about you or me or anyone else, he'd just a soon shut this place down and turn it into a basket weaving forum.
4. I pm'ed you that you were trying too hard to make an impression on the TZ and you "reminded" everyone of those blowhard teenage know-it-all snobs who left with their tails between their legs soon thereafter.
5. I advised you to stop trying so hard to be funnier, smarter, better looking (okay, the last part isn't too hard to do, skip that) than anybody else, instead, read more, post less and if you're going to post, contribute, not decide to take on the entire freaking board unless you're sure you want the fight.
6. You told me "thanks but I'll do things my way" in so many words and that was the end of the "help" I was trying to provide you as an Admin.  I can only scream "CLIFF" so loud before you drive yourself right over it.
7. You were never banned.

So now that we have that all straightened out, welcome back and watch out for Spack... just like all the rest of us do. Some never learn though, so there is that.

Noe,
Thanks for clearing things up. I don’t remember the pm but I do remember speaking on the phone with a Mr. Jim Raup, attorney at law. Not disputing your version of the facts—I’m sure you possess the superior activity log—mine is occasionally infected with the tequila and bourbon viruses. And I agree that I was never banned. I was actually living in Ohio, which is far crueler than being banned from an internet chat board, even one as fine as SNS. And thanks for the welcome back, though I’ve gotten friendlier ones in county.

I think it would be wise to stop the fabrication at this point and time.  What I told you is the truth about anything this site (and it's representatives) have done in communication efforts with you and nothing else need apply.  Just saying, but you're treading down the wrong path here.

Poor Fredia's thread has taken such a bizarre turn.

"Fredia", "bizarre" and "thread" somehow all work well in a sentence.

Not really. She supplied what she thought was a helpful suggestion. Somehow we've evolved into Coach calling random forum posters to ensure their authenticity as competent adult Astros fans.

Why are people feeding the troll.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Just having a little fun down at the end of the Void. But now that it is over, we should just stop it and talk baseball in this forum.

I've got so much baggage Noe that it probably will make little difference. OTOH, given my knowledge of papal history (I'm an amateur popes and papacy historian, occasionally giving lectures on that history), I'd fit right in with several past popes, John XII being a great example.

But doesn't remember any of it. He doesn't like to talk about it, but truth be told, Mr. Happy used to be a bit of a drinker.

Touche' Coach! Incidentally, John XII, who was elected at age 18, was a major sex deviant who literally turned the Lateran Palace into a brothel. One historian termed his reign as the "pornocracy." Rumor has it that he died at 27 while having sex, although it also could be that he was murdered by the jealous husband of his sex partner at the time.

Biz, your memory is quite good, although when I got drunk, which was often, I just had to have those drugs too that almost killed me twice. Thank God that is over, at least for today and has been now for awhile.
