One down, one to go...
« on: March 30, 2010, 03:34:42 pm »
I have just been informed that Giada De Laurentiis will be in Houston on April 6th, signing her new cookbook at the William-Sonoma at Town & Country.  Now, if Rachel Ray is coming with her, my plan will be pefect.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

What would you want her to sign?

I don't want her to sign anything.  I want her to grab Rachel, some EVOO and maybe a jar of chocolate sauce and head over to my place.

Forget the food metaphors...I want them both naked, covered in oil, rolling around on the waterbed.  We can then shower together and cover each other in chocolate sauce.  Following that, they can join me in the hot tub for some cognac and a nice cigar.

Just as long as you aren't introducing Sandra Lee into the equation.

I'm quite sure that HH'll be placed on a "watch list" if Giada's security peeps find this thread and learn his intentions.

I was going to comment on the 30 second segment not being enough time to cover Hudson in chocolate, but the mental image grossed me out so I decided to rinse out my eyes with bleach instead.

Why am I not surprised that HH has a water bed?

For Mr. Hudson.

http://warmingglow.uproxx.com/2010/04/best-cooking-show-ever

I understand the Nigella fetish, but I cannot get on board (or in my bunk) because I remember her Dad, who managed to crush a nation's economy with a few well placed and massively ill-advised policy changes when he was Chancellor of the Exchequer (Treasury Secretary to you).  I believe his brightest moment was when he flushed 10 beeeellion pounds of tax payers money down the drain, in just two days, trying to prop up the currency on the forex market.  The traders saw what was happening, and just pounded sterling (get it?) until Pappa Lawson cried uncle.

I also remember fondly his effort to control the inflationary spiral he created.  To avoid the economy getting overheated by people spending their hard-earned money, which they were keeping more of thanks to his tax cuts, he jacked up interest rates to 15%.  As pretty much everyone who had a mortgage was on an adjustable rate deal (they didn't give out fixed rate mortgages to anyone back then), everyone's mortgage payment - including mine - tripled overnight.  It cooled the economy all right, because everyone was flat broke and/or bankrupt and/or defaulting on their mortgages.  It's just such amazing logic: "You people are spending too much, so I'm going to take all of your money and give it to the banks.  Not put it in an account in your name, no.  Just give it to them, so it's not yours anymore."

I hope Nigella cooks food better than Nigel cooked the books.  Yes, he named his daughter after himself.

Did you know it was possible to be too political?  I have trouble fantisizing about this hot piece of ass because her dad was a schmuck.

Does not compute.

When she has virtually the same name and a reasonably close familial resemblance, it computes.  It's like in Peep Show, when Jez is fucking Mark's sister, and he realises mid-bonk that he was, in reality, fucking Mark by proxy.

I don't understand this reference, and I don't want to.

Peep Show is pure awesomness.

Quote from: Wikipedia
Peep Show follows the often sexually-frustrated lives of two men in their late twenties and early thirties, Mark Corrigan (Mitchell) and Jeremy Usbourne (Webb). Having met while at the fictional Dartmouth University together - they occasionally refer to themselves as 'The El Dude Brothers' in reference to their student days - they now share a flat in Croydon, South London.

...

In the first series, Mark and Jeremy start out with similar aims of bedding their next-door neighbour Toni, though Mark is also tragically obsessed with his workmate Sophie, who is more interested in the more macho Jeff. Both endure awkward situations; Mark suffers a sexual admiration for his boss, Johnson, while Jeremy remembers having oral sex with Super Hans. The two desperately team up to prank call Sophie and launch a pepper spray attack on Super Hans, who has begun a relationship with Toni. By the end of the series, Mark nearly succeeds in having sex with Sophie but this chance is ruined by Jeremy's apparent overdose, while the latter claims that he has a terminal illness in order to receive a hand job from Toni
