Winner of the 800 in Berlin has to go through a plethora of tests to determine if she is female, never heard of that happening before.  On a side note, how do you feel about your countrywoman, Limey?

It's a routine thing in the world of track and field.  It's been an Olympic requirement for some time.  A runner at the Asian Games a few years ago was stripped of her medal because she "failed" a gender test.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I read that they stopped testing for it at the olympics after a bunch of false positives at the 96 games

What gets me is the articles on that story say that it will take a few weeks to process test results. Seems like an xray or MRI or physical examination should provide pretty quick results.

I wasn't aware of that.  At any rate, such and idea isn't uprecedented.

Right.  It's not about genitalia, it's about chomosomes and hormones.

Usain Bolt won the mens' 200 meters, of course, but the silver was won by Panamanian Alonso Edward who is still very young and should only get better with more and better coaching.

Bolt's only 23 himself.
