Going to Dodger Stadium for the first time
« on: July 06, 2009, 02:19:17 pm »
to see the Astros Sun. 7/19. Looking at their insanely complicated seating/pricing chart, I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to try to get seats. And oh, clicking "best available" offers me three Dugout Club seats for the low low price of $650 each, which is about $600 more than I'd hoped to spend. Anybody have any recommendations on a good section to aim for?

I'll be at the Dodgers - Astros series, too.

I went through Stubhub and got some  $40 tickets that are in right field along the first base line. I bought these a few days before Manny got back, I imagine the tickets may have gone up seeing thats his first series back at home. But I've always been pretty happy with going through Stubhub because they let you pick out your seats. Good luck.

I always had a good time in the Preferred Field Box seats and could usually get the tix pretty easy and for a reasonable price.  As with most stadiums designed specifically for baseball, you are right on the field, get a decent chance to shag a foul ball and can "chat" with the corner fielders.  If you are bringing a kid, they are ball magnets for the ballboy/girl too if you have them run down the isle.  It's been a few years but Dodger Stadium never changes.  Not that I ever saw the Astros win there, it was a great place to watch the games when the Astros were in the NL West.

FYI, don't waste your $$ on the vaunted Dodger Dogs.  They are boiled to oblivion so that the bleached hotdog is the same consistancy as the mushy bun.  Yeeeuck.

My son and I went to a couple games there a few years ago. It is one of the best stadiums we went to. We sat in the upper deck above home plate for both games, and it was awesome. The LA skyline, the Hollywood sign, just a great experience. The worse thing for me was a Dodger dog. What the heck is that thing? As much as it is hyped, it's hard to imagine it being any worse. I'll take a Nathan's or Hebrew National any day.

i have been to several games there down through the years and never had a bad view. i also never paid $650 for a ticket.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

I was there a couple weeks ago and had a great view from LF bleachers.  All the food in that part of the stadium looked/was unedible.  Beers are $10.

Go to the Red Lion Tavern in Silver Lake ahead of the game.  Load up on the sausage platter and the potato pancakes (so yummy) and sample your favorite German beer on tap if you desire.  I prefer the upstairs beer garden.

Thanks for all the info folks. Guess I will be avoiding the Dodger Dogs, good to know in advance.

You know, I think I may've been to this place back in 2002, unless there are a lot of German-style beer gardens by Silver Lake. It was pretty cool.
