Ok, I have one shot to get this right.  24 hour trip to LA.  Landed at noon today and leave at noon tomorrow.  I want to hit In-and-Out before heading back to the airport ... "animal style", etc. or just a regular burger to get the true experience?

Also, street signs hanging from freeway overpasses here are protected by barbed wire.  The terrorists have won

Make sure you hit the one right by LAX on Sepulveda (it's next to the Parking Spot) - it's always high quality.  I'm a double-double girl myself.  Definitely give the shake a try.

Recently I was introduced to P Terry's in Austin. It reminds me on IN-N-OUT both from the experience and the food quality.

Try one of each, they're smaller than you think.

Fatburger rules.  And P. Terry's is a watery image of In-And-Out.

If you get a chance, you might try the Apple Pan, but don't stop until you've had dessert there, either the apple or banana cream pie.

That's a tasty burger.  My wife's a vegetarian, which basically makes me a vegetarian, but I do love a good burger.

No, LA has better weather and prettier people.   But otherwise, right.

You know, it's not really necessary to divulge this type of personal behavior.  But I'll file this away for future reference.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I like Carl's Jr. better than In-And-Out, but I suppose the novelty can overrule. In-And-Out fries are like balsa wood, though. Just got back from LA myself (sister's wedding). If you can get there, take the hike up from the Griffith Observatory parking lot to Mt. Hollywood -- feels awesome up there, and it's a good workout. Also, see if you can get to Roscoe's in Pasadena (on Lake, a couple blocks north of Orange Grove, which is immediately parallel to 134/210).

Enjoy!

If you're going on actual taste, Carls whoops In-and-Out's scrawny ass.   But of course, it isn't as "cool."

And if you're going to a Roscoe's, go to one with black people in it, not the one in Dena.

That's the only one I've been to. Not very black, for sure, but the menu is probably the same. Agreed, re: Carls vs I-A-O. Even though it's a chain, I like Tommy's better than Carls, even. Chili on everything!! Yeehaw. No shortage of eating joints, that's for sure. I'm jonesing for a boba, now, though.

In a semi-unrelated note, I like Mooyah and I don't have to leave Katy to get it. So, fuck you In-and-Out.

Are they any good, really?  Whenever we got to the library we tell ourselves we should go to Mooyah (it's in the same parking lot more or less), but usually end up at Baker Street because they sell beer, and have a pretty darn good 'make your own' sort of burger.  Would Mooyah be worth forgoing alcohol for?

That's stiff competition. I've never had a burger at Baker Street, I go there for the beer and scenery, so I can't make a comparison. I like Mooyah, it's good for a chain type establishment, the beef is lean, the veggies are fresh and the fries are cut from potatoes on site and not pre-cut / frozen. The downside to Mooyah is it's pretty pricey for just a burger and fries, for a family of four we can eat La Finca, Chili's, BW3's for what we pay at Mooyah. It's definitely worth trying though.

Thanks, that's good info, we'll have to give Mooyah a try.  Hard to pass up Baker St, and really hard to pass up La Finca though!

Mooyah was good.  Reminded me of Five Guys.  I did order the spicy black bean burger the other day and liked it.  I have never been to La Finca.  We have been looking for a good Mexican food restaurant in Katy, so we will have to try it.  We recently tried Hacienda on Mason north of Highland Knolls and found it to be pretty good and prices are VERY reasonable.

We've been nothing but pleased with La Finca, lots of good options, food is always very fresh, good service, Modelo on tap, 2 or 3 tv's behind the bar if you're so inclined.  I can't say as I noticed the prices as being any more or less than anywhere else.  Highly recommended, it's our default Mexican place.

Check out Kogi Korean BBQ tonight before you leave.  They mainly serve it on trucks but there's one spot near Culver City off the 405 called the Alibi Room.  It's kind of a hipster type bar but they start serving Kogi BBQ at 6pm.  It's Korean BBQ fused with other foods like short rib tacos or burritos and Korean sliders.  I recommend the short rib tacos and the Korean spiced fries.

I drive from Orange County to eat this stuff.

I prefer Okie Dogs and not just because it's an LA punk staple.  I just think it's a bit better than Pink's.

We dine at La Finca often, the food is solid and the service is exceptional. Other mexican food in Katy that I like is El Jarritio, Victor's, Omar's and Las Rosas. Vita Loca has a great atmosphere and Los Cucos is very popular, but personally, I'm not a big fan of either.

At the LAX In-and-Out as suggested.  Sign said 10:30 but others started going thorough drive  thru at 10 so I have two full hours to digest (youre welcome 12A)

Double double meal w a choc shake and an extra cheeseburger animal style.  Damn good all around.  Thanks all!

Client asked that I come back frequently (good news for my business, bad news for my wife and my waistline) so Ill plan to hit your other suggestions next time around.

definitely second recommendations for Roscoe's (south central location) and Apple Pan.
