NBA Championship Series
« on: June 08, 2009, 12:48:13 pm »
How many games is it going to take my beloved Lakers (been a committed fan since 1967) to vanquish the Magic? I realize that I'm going to catch unmitigated shit from the Rockets fans in the room.

Rooting for the Lakers is like rooting for cancer...

Shit, I know better than to start a Spurs thread in here, much less a Lakers one.

what respect i had for mr happy previously, has now vanished.

i'd love to say that the magic, could somehow or other win this series, but they won't.

I won't lie and add some kind of bullshit qualifying statement that I normally don't advocate violence (mostly because nobody would believe it anyway), but personally I'd just send one of my big scrubby bench-warmers in with the specific intent of scrambling Kobe's brain.

I tried to watch last night.  I just couldn't develop any interest.  Tiger, Federer, the CWS Supers, the Wings, hell - even the US World Cup qualifier, all higher on my list to watch than the NBA finals.

Well, if Dwight Howard is indeed Superman, then I believe we've found his Kryptonite:  it's apparently free throws.  As Dwight Howard stepped to the line in crucial situation after crucial situation, my mind kept harkening back to poor ol' Nick Anderson.  The Orlando fans have seen this movie before, both with Nick and with Shaq.  I'm not even a fan, and that was tough to watch.  Suppose the Fakeshow will employ "Hack-A-Dwight" for the duration?
"(512) ybbodeus looks just as creepy in HD as in person."   That is a problem, and we are working on it.

The Magic completely blew the game by missing a million free throws.  I'd wager the series is over.

I wanted to blame the loss on the officiating, especially after Kobe's "strip" of somebody from behind when he did everything but break the poor guy's arm with a karate chop, but the fact of the matter was that there was absolutely no telling what was going to be called a foul and what wasn't, for either side. Bynum appears to be the designated fuck-ee for the series.

If somebody just makes a fucking free throw in the last two minutes (Turkoglu, I'm looking at you), Orlando wins.

You are one messed up dude.

My second grade art fair project back in 1967 was a poster-sized drawing of Jerry West (No. 44, Zeke from Cabin Creek). I remember crying in 1970 when the dastardly Knicks (with Willis Reed) beat my Lakers 113-99 in Game 7 of the Championship Series. My dad was pulling for Willis Reed because he was from Louisiana. I loved Chick Hearn, the longtime play-by-play voice of the Lakers. I just have been with them for so long, just like the Astros. I'm not a big fan of Kobe Bryant, but he's a marvelous player who earned his stripes this season.
