Moore would be a great Astro manager.

Ah heck, 1st start by a LHP for the Rangers tonight. We're doomed.
I'm in love with rock and roll and I'll be out all night.

Holland is their prized, almost ready for prime-time, pitching prospect in an organization that has several exciting arms. I am jealous of the Rangers young talent. And it's harder for me to dislike them with Ryan at the helm.

I can't fucking stand the Rangers.

They're the Reds of the AL.

Every year they get off to a decent start, and all the front-running moron fans start crowing about how this is the year. No matter how many times you remind them of their 2nd half woes, they go on and on and on, and talk about how much the Astros suck. THEN, the 2nd half of the season rolls around, and those same assholes that wouldn't shut up about the AWESOME Rangers are suddenly talking about Cowboys training camp and Six Flags. You mention the Rangers and they look confused... "I'm not a Rangers fan, I hate pro baseball. When does football season start?"

I have no feelings either way toward Dallasites. It's just that, most of the Rangers fans I've ever met are complete and total assclowns.

One of my best friends and a former roommate of mine is a HUGE Rangers fan, but he understands baseball and doesn't talk shit about it. And he was probably the most jealous non-Astros fan friend I had about me going to the World Series when Houston was in it.

Fucking spot on.  This is so much like my best friend it is eeeeeerie.  He will be at the game tonight with his wife wearing their Rangers gear (and the thing that really pisses me off is his wife used to be a "huge astros fan"...marriage should not make you change team affiliations), gloat if they win, then in two months, just as you said, will be talking about the Cowboys while saying how much he hates the Rangers.

Well said.

I can't say that I hate the Rangers, especially not in a Cubs or Mets kind of way, but I find their bandwagoneering fan base to be just obnoxious when this series is going on.   I kind of like inter league games between teams form the same cities, and the odd World Series rematches, but this one does nothing for me and it seems to be the same for the players.

haters, they are just haters.

The only team I disagree about are the Stars. They've won a Stanley Cup at least.

Mavs fans are pretty awful in their penis envy of the rest of Texas' NBA teams.

Rangers fans, yeah, already covered.

I find there to be a very serious split in Cowboys fans. The frontrunner fans ARE obnoxious, pretty much completely obnoxious.

However, in Texas at least, there are a lot of quiet Cowboys fans that know plenty about football and support the Cowboys through thick and thin.

I've also noticed that most of the dicknose Ranger fans I know are also dicknose Cowboys fans, though.

I've been a Cowboys fan all my life, but find that I can't really discuss the Cowboys with most people because either a.) people hate them due to the humongous bandwagon from 10+ years ago as "America's Team" or b.) because the person I'm trying to talk to is one of those fucking moron Dallas bandwagoners that would rather talk about Tony Romo dating Jessica Simpson than the actual game.

I will not group the stars and the cowboys in any group with mavs and rangers.  Won't do it.  Don't care.  Wouldn't make me happy.  And if it is not yet known, if I'm not happy ain't no one happy.

The Stars are a first class operation.
Hull (and the rest of the organization) must have been at the end of a long bender when the Avery deal was made. To their everlasting credit, when the hangover wore off and they realized what they had done, they fixed it - immediately and permanently - no excuses offered.

So how about that Stephen McGee?

My dad, being an Aggie of the crazy variety, went nuts.  He was saying how he could not wait for the season to begin - even if Stephen did not play, that his presence alone would make the Cowboys better.

On a side note, I was happy about the pick.  I am 100% in favor of mobile backups, as if you get to that point it is usually because you have an injury on the O-line or they just plain suck.  After holding a clipboard a couple of years, I think he will turn into a quality backup.

I have an uncle from the Dallas area that is a rabid Rangers fan that also practices self loathing.  When I was a kid, he would come down for Christmas and what not with tons of Rangers shit for me like hats, shirts and fucking baseball cards. It was like a Mormon mission to convert this poor heathen Astros fan from that awful city in the south.  As a 10 year old I felt like shit having all that Rangers stuff hidden in my closet and was afraid Craig Biggio would drop in one day with Mike Scott and find my stash of dreadful secret Rangers items.  Finally, my uncle took a hint that I wasn't going to convert and I stopped receiving Ruben Sierra baseball cards and stories about how awesome Rafael Palmeiro is.

Just tell 'em their team's built for May; they'll probably come back with some inane Silver Boot smack, so you tell 'em they're built for the Silver Boot and watch 'em walk away delusionally happy.

Mav fans tend to be the same, declaring themselves NBA finalists prior to the crystal ball dropping in Times Square.

Cowboy fans?  Well, I'm one, but JerraJones has made that a bit more challenging in the post-Aikman era.

Star fans?  A great group by comparison to the previous three, but too many of them act like they grew up with the game.  Then again, the rust belt folks used to keep an eye on Trammel Crow construction projects in the late 70's and early 80's like hawks as thousands of Camaros and Firebirds pointed south, poised to head Texas way once a groundbreaking date was announced.  Perhaps a lot of them DID grow up with the game.

I suppose the younger Star fans can make that claim, given the team's been there since, what, the late 80's/early 90's?

Living in the Metroplex I will agree with your assesment pretty much. You have to realize most people here that live north of downtown aren't even Texans so they truly are front-runners. The boob-job and cocaine set goes back and forth between the Mavs and Stars depending on which team is better. A baseball team being built for May is fine with them because the season ends when the Cowboys report to camp in July. I was a Cowboy fan since the Cotton Bowl days because they were the only NFL team in Texas when I was growing up in South Texas. I starting losing interest when Switzer was hired. As much as I can't stand Jerry, Cuban is infinitely worse. There is no Dallas team I really route for.

You have to realize most people here that live north of downtown aren't even Texans ...

This is a fine example of an overstatement.
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
Truth isn't easy, the easy part's shit

The boob-job and cocaine set goes back and forth between the Mavs and Stars depending on which team is better.

Damn.  No wonder I keep missing them.

Except that short bus rider keeps spitting on you and telling you how much you suck compared to him... Until the second semester of school starts and he puts his retainer back in and you can't really understand him anymore.
Wow.
