Brewers 1st

Roy Oswalt pitching:

Craig Counsell:   Ball, Ball, Ball, Strike looking, Counsell grounded out to second.
J.J. Hardly:   Strike looking, Strike looking, Ball, Hardy grounded out to shortstop.
Penis Face Dick Nose:   Ball, Ball, Strike looking, Foul, Braun tripled to deep right.
Lard Ass:   Strike looking, Ball, Foul, Fielder struck out swinging.

End of Inning (0 Runs, 1 Hit, 0 Errors)

I recognized Limey and Gleach, but I couldn't figure out who was next to Taras.

This is a huge lost opportunity. If the Grocer were there, we could have a new manager by tomorrow.

Roy's living dangerously. Getting out of these two innings with only one run allowed is fortunate. I hope he doesn't test them again next inning.

He was safe *if* what he slapped his hand on was the plate.  Because the slap beat the tag.  But unless he called the ump a cocksucker, yeah that was NBA bad.

Cooper is unfathomable frequently.  That is a bad sign.  I mean baseball is a simple game.  You throw the ball.  You hit the ball.  You catch the ball.  You don't have a fuckwit for a manager.

Sampson needs to start an inning, not come it with runners on. He is too hittable.

The Brewers are starting to piss me off.

And I don't like the idea of loading the bases for Kendall. That fucker has been hurting us.

That was the only right call out of our dugoout this inning. The ump gave us one there I think.

That's one of the stupider stats that gets trotted out. What's the normal win percentage for teams trailing after 7, .110?

Too many, but they're a team with a whole lot of problems facing teams that don't have as many. One of the problems with the way that stat is used is that it's not commonly known how many times teams do come back late, but it's a very small percentage. If you come back more than five times in a season I think you're beating the odds if I remember correctly.

I wasn't calling you stupid, I was calling the indiscriminate use of that statistic as stupid. I saw the graphic on Fox too.

According to Stats inc., teams who lead after 7 win 90.1% of the time.

This team isn't bad but it is somewhat thin, and the bullpen has been ravaged with no real help in immediate sight. I think it's a lot easier to lose games late than it is to come back and win them, especially when you haven't been scoring many runs. The Astros seem to find themselves losing small leads late but find themselves trailing by larger leads when they get to the later parts of games.

Yeah, they've been bedeviled by the little things all season long, as well as having to somehow overcome their bizarre manager, the loss of their closer and their 7th inning anchor reliever, and one of their best hitters suffering through a terrible slump. If they can get past the injury problems you'd think they'd stand a good chance at ripping off a decent win streak but the age of this team means that injuries are going to happen more often.

Awesome. I'm really excited about this.

This was a terrible evening to have to go to the airport and pick up some guests rather than watch the game. I enjoy mocking the idiots sitting behind the plate playing grabass with each other. It's got to be a lot more fun when you actually know them. In fact, I think I'm going to queue up the archive on mlb.tv, at least until Berkman gets tossed.

Berkman doesn't swear, by the way.

Roy's strike out curve to Hall is so slow that during the pitch YB had time to contort himself in order to turn around and sternly instruct Limey to quit dribbling Shiner down the back of his golf shirt and then smartly right ship in time to see the whiff and applaud merrily. Limey appeared disconsolate as the idea of wasted Shiner sunk in.

In light of JimR's judgemental opinion, I am officially awarding Taras 5 strokes a side tomorrow morning as penance (I'm Baptist, so I'm not exactly sure how to spell that).

Thanks for reminding me about the kiddie treats, Homer; they'll thank me tomorrow.

Wish your 275 yard drives were joining us tomorrow, Sporadic.

i may not be alone in that opinion after your display last night. thank goodness you were not the one in the SnS cap.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Okay, then, six strokes a side.
"(512) ybbodeus looks just as creepy in HD as in person."   That is a problem, and we are working on it.
