Astros pick up Lopez off waivers.
« on: April 10, 2009, 05:07:22 pm »
The Astros added a right-handed pitcher to their organization on Friday, claiming Wilton Lopez off waivers from the Padres. They optioned him to Double-A Corpus Christi, and, to make room for him on the club's 40-man roster, transferred infielder Aaron Boone to the 60-day disabled list.

I wonder how this factors into Noe's report of Brocail being hurt?

Wilton Lopez is going to AA, but the fact that they scoured the waiver wire for a pitcher probably meant that WadeSmith had an inkling he better shore up the minors with more pitching just in case.
