I started to feel old when players I grew up watching morphed into coaches.
What is JimR?Now I'll take Potent Potables for 500, Alex.

Sigh, what a post for the day before I turn 46....
Four Astros were born after Jan. 1, 1980:Jeff Keppinger: 1980Michael Bourn: 1982Hunter Pence: 1983Wesley Wright: 1985Reading the Pence thread below reminded me how important is progress is to the future of this team.
What really should make it you feel old isn't that someone born after 1980 is in the majors. It should be that someone born in 1980 will be 30 years old in a few months.
What *really* makes you feel old is having been in High School (or maybe even College) before some of these people now complaining about being old were born.
There's old, and then there's older than dirt. I am merely old.
It was really tough growing up without dirt, I can tell you.
No kidding. "Rub some primordial sludge in it" just does not have the same cache after you get a big raspberry after a hard slide into 2nd.
Thanks for the reminder, jackass.
So, I see you're old and crotchety!
damn, it took folks too damn long to get to this one. the reflexes are slowing down everywhere, it seems.
In some other posting (maybe gamezone) there was talk of the wheel. I was surprised not to see any JimR smack about the invention of said item.BTW Coach, it was nice to finally meet you. All the "old guy" smack is largely undeserved. The irritable and WFW stuff still applies, but I have better understanding of it now.
Shut up, Matlock's on and my tapioca's getting cold.
mmmmm, tapioca. i love tapioca.
Just to make everyone feel younger, today is the anniversary of the the day Kurt Cobain was found dead, fifteen years ago.
Just to make everyone feel younger, today is the anniversary of the the day Kurt Cobain was found dead murdered by a vast criminal conspiracy including, among others, Bud Selig, Larry Flynt, and various unnamed extraterrestrials, fifteen years ago.
Watching someone play minor league baseball (Joe Morgan), make it to the big leagues and then into the HOF makes one realize that time really does fly past.
