I'm forced to watch this on ESPN and they had no view of Matsui on that last play.  What happened?

Matsui: Walks
Rodriguez: Flies out to right
Berkman: Singles to right
Lee: Lazy liner to Bradley. Matsui doubled off second, seemed sure it would drop.

Ramirez: Homer to the Crawford Boxes
Fontenot: On a 1-1 count, hits a curve for a single to right
Soto: On a 2-2, Soto singles to left. Roy upset
Theriot: Great stop by Berkman down the line. Gets the out at first. Runners advance to second and third.
Zambrano: Infield drawn in, ball hit right to Kaz who freezes the runner on third and gets the out at first.
Soriano: 4-3 put out to end the inning on a broken bat bounder up the middle. Kaz makes a nice play.

Lee: Pops to the lessor Lee in foul territory. One out.
Tejada: K's on 4 pitches. Two outs.
Blum: Appears to be gearing up for a run at the single season checked swing record. Blum completes a swing that results in a fly out to that skipping fairy fellow in left.

Fukudome: Grounds into a 4-6-3 DP.
Lee: Pops to Kazuo. Three outs.

Nice quick inning. Ritual wig wearing women kill the bad mojo of the mysterious content of Berkman's pocket.

Berkman carries a phone and keys in his pockets. How unique. FSN breaking out the good stuff for opening day.

Bradley: Fouls a ton off, doesn't check a terrible swing (umpire disagreed with me), pops up to Pudge. One out.
Ramirez: Gets in on the fouling fun before popping out to Berkman. Two outs.
Fontenot: Grounds out Matsui to Berkman. Three outs.

Rodriguez: K's again. Two outs.
Berkman: Walks.

Tejada: Lines to center for a base hit. None out, man on first.
- Cubs bullpen warms
Blum: Zambrano starts losing control, velocity appears to be down. Blum works a full count and walks. None out, men on first and second.
- Pinella notices and yanks Big Z to a chorus of boos.
- Heilman comes in
Pence: 6-4-3 on the first pitch. Two outs, man on third.
Bourn: Bourn is fast. Singles on a Willy Taveras swinging bunt. Runner scores
- Erstand replaces Oswalt
- Cotts replaces Heilman
- Erstad replaces by Michaels
Michaels: Grounds to short.

For the Rockets fans out there, Manu is out for the season. That should make the division title a little more attainable.

Geary takes the hill.

Fukudome: Flies to Lee in short left.
Lee: Nice strike out. Geary looks good.
Bradley: Great over the shoulder catch by Matsui!

(1)  I love the bullpen.
(2)  I really hope Matsui stays healthy.

Marmol replaces Cotts.

Matsui: Shows bunt a couple times then grounds out to short. One out.
Rodriguez: Missed a slider by a ton, forces a full count, then grounds to short. Two outs.
Berkman: Forced another full count and works it for a walk.
Lee: Pops out in foul territory off third base.

Pence has been the worst.  Swinging at the slider away, laying off the fastball down the middle.  No idea what he's doing.

WHAT THE HELL

When the Astros got Lee they had a plan to push the shortstop further back on those low shallow pops.  Everett broke his leg for the effort and has only now got himself back and is starting for the Tigers.  Tejada wanted no part of that and Lee would not come on.

Geary stays in

Ramirez: Is not fast. Miggy bobbles but still gets him.
Fontenot: Uh wow. Lee, that's your ball. Gift single on fly ball. One out man on first.
- passed ball sends Fontenot to second.
Soto: Nice strike out looking. Two outs, man on second.
Theriot: Walks on 5 pitches. Two outs, men on first and second.
Hoffpauir: Singles to right. Fontenot scores from second as Pence's throw goes up the line. Two outs, men on first and third. Soriano: Flies to right.

On the bright side, Co-ards give up 4 in the ninth to blow the game.

Just recently.  His arm is going over his shoulder so there is improvement.  Fontenot beat the throw, no matter where it was.

I was thinking earlier, a Cubbie outfield of Soriano, Fukudome in CF, and Bradley is going to lead to some heartburn for Lou. Bradley just confirmed it.

Gathright in as a defensive substitution for Kosuke in CF.
Gregg in to close.

Tejada: Singles up the middle. None out, man on first.
Blum: Bradley gets a glove on the ball in right but does not catch it. None out, men on first and third.
Pence: Flies to center, deep enough. Miggy scores. One out, man on first.
Bourn: Flies to just right of center. Two outs, man on first.
Smith (replaces Geary): Grounds to first, unassisted.

If I'm a coach, any pitcher of mine that throws Hunter Pence a fastball is getting demoted to AAA before the game is over. He looked fucking pitiful at the plate. Even with me and Noe yelling from the upper right field tank to not swing at off speed bullshit, he was up there waving at pitches he couldn't hit with a fucking broom.

I was calling him a jackass at the park.  The only players to ever get that from me in the past were Lane and Ensberg.

Pretty sure the first thing I told Jim at the Saucer after the game was trade Pence now.

Well I disagree of course, but understand your point.  Had he said NHL Hockey, I would've reacted too!  Same way some folks would react to me saying "I'm going to watch a Dynamo match instead".  Some things just cause reactions ya know.  We care.  A lot.  Causes us to say things.  You know, things.  The GZ is the best place for things.  Just saying.
