To avoid the stigma, most players change their name when they play baseball.  Lance Berkman, little known fact, changed his name when he went to Rice.  No one is really named Lance.  His real name, Ignatio Queefman, just scared people.  1964 the entire the Kansas City Athletics team legally changed their names to Bert.  Just Bert.

His real name, Ignatio Queefman, ...

Its unpleasant to think what a fan group could do with that name.   We really dodged a bullet there.

There's never been anyone named Joe Jones in MLB history, there have been two with the name Steve Ontiveros.

Gregory William Olson, C, and Greggory William Olson, P.

They missed teaming up as a pitcher/catcher duo in Atlanta by 1 year.

However, they were both on the 1990 All-Star teams.

I was going to say Greg Olson (pitcher) and Greg Olson (catcher), but you beat me to it.  There was a Jose Uribe and a Jose Uribe, but one unfortunately passed away in a tragic car accident.

Weren't there two Pedro Martinezes in the early '90s? I remember announcers/writers using their initials for awhile, 'til one disappeared and the other one became all-world.

If were are opening it up to players who didn't play at the same time, there are tons (tonnes to you, Limey) of them.

Anyway,

Pat Kelly, Pat Kelly

Mike Marshall, Mike Marshall

Dave Roberts, Dave Roberts (both played in San Diego, and in Houston, though at different times)

Chris Young, Chris Young (present)

The 1963 steM had two Bob Millers.  They actually roomed together...and they were both pretty bad.  is this what you mean?

There were actually 3 different Dave Roberts who wore an Astros uniform.  One was an original .45 who couldn't hit worth a damn.

Both RHPs too, something which (not surprisingly) confused the hell out of Casey Stengel.
Eventually, the story goes, he settled on calling each by a different name although I don't think either was any variant of Robert/Bobby/Bob.

The 2000 NYM had two pitchers named Bobby Jones, one a white righty, the other a black lefty and therefore much more easily distinguishable.
