Yankees Sharing the Needle
« on: February 10, 2009, 09:27:00 am »
So that's 4 now, Clemens, Pettitte, Giambi and A-Rod, three of whom have admitted to using steroids and one who is in danger of going to jail because he's stated that he never used despite significant evidence to the contrary.  A-Rod came late to the Yankmee party and claims to have been off the juice by the time he got there, but that's not the point.  He got there because he juiced, just like the others got there because they juiced, because the Yankees will spend whatever it takes to win World Series...es, and what they were buying were roided-up cheats.

If baseball is truly serious about cleaning up its act and setting the right tone regarding PEDs, it cannot let cheats like these retain their glory.  You can't take away the money they conned out of the sport, but you can make sure that their legacy, like Pete Rose's, is forever coated in shit.

Consider the luminaries on the 2001 Rangers who were there to provide veteran leadership and give an example to A-Rod of how to be a star and help A-Rod deal with the enormous pressure he apparently felt to be the best player in baseball:

Ivan Rodriguez, Rafael Palmeiro, Jose Canseco, Ken Caminiti (RIP), Ruben Sierra.

Not hard to imagine how A-Rod went down the rabbit hole.

I believe that's what they call a contact high.

Not to mention Steinbrenner's ego. It has to be on the juice.
