That leaves one more infielder left to take a 25-man spot.

The Juan Uribe-Joe Crede level speculation was clearly aiming too high.

At this point they could bring Matt LeBlanc's ape friend to play third, and I'd be happy just to watch some baseball again.  Damn void.

Chron article says the deal will be finalized after the physical.  But he'll just cost money,

the Nationals, they decided not to offer infielder Aaron Boone and left-hander Odalis Perez arbitration because they are not considered Type A or B free agents.

you probably already guessed that.

Wade was pretty adamant.  No arb-offered A's.  B's don't cost the team anything.

Well...I heard on the radio this morning that Bobby Crosby was put on waivers by the A's.  They said he was due to make around $5M.  I don't know all the in/outs, but doesn't that mean he becomes a free agent if no one claims him?  I'm thinking he'll clear, and I'm thinking his value will be pretty low.  I wondering if he might be picked up for a year at $1M or less with a chance to earn more in incentives.

Anyhow...he's had three sub-par seasons in a row including one last year where he played over 140 games.  I realize it's a long shot, but maybe he'd be worth taking a flyer on at short.  This team is going to need some high risk high reward type players to step up if it going to compete.  That would move Tejada to third and Boone/Blum back to the bench.

I don't know for sure but I think it was not release waivers, but rather the kind that the Red Sox put Manny Ramirez on a couple of years ago and no one claimed him.

He'll clear at that price and then be given a choice to accept his assignment to the minors or become a FA.  The catch here is that if he become a FA, then he doesn't get paid the $5M.  My guess is that he'll accept the assignment, becuase nobody is going to pay him anywhere close to $5M.  This is similar to the D. Turnbow situation last year.

It appears that if Houston thought Tejada could play third it would have made things much simpler for them in terms of personnel decisions.  Can't seem to see anything in words or action on their part to suggest that they think he would be effective at that position or would want to make the move there.

Rockets season tickets... and a new pair of Air Jordans?
