If you had trouble getting tickets to Rice Stadium, you can go see them in the Texas Bowl at Reliant Stadium:

Looks like potential opponents are Notre Dame or Louisville, but that won't be locked in until after this week.

I thought the Big 12/XII had a tie in to that bowl?  Or are there no conference tie ins to this bowl?
Oh God, I wish I was a loofah!

The Big 1100 couldn't fill all of its slots this year.

But Texas Bowl officials can offer a BCS conference opponent (a Big East or ACC team) or Notre Dame, which stumbled to a 6-6 finish but still brings significant national cache

Also, because the ACC has 10 bowl-eligible teams but just nine bowl tie-ins, there is an outside possibility that one of its teams could land in the Texas Bowl, which hosted UH and TCU last postseason.

More proof that bowls are a business.  Nothing more, nothing less.

The Irish are terrible. They'll get manhandled by anyone at this point.

I read an article last week that there was some concern that there wouldn't be enough teams eligible for the 68 bowl slots this year. That seems to no longer be a concern...

But, per NCAA rules, a seven-win team from any conference has precedence in any bowl over a six-win team regardless of secondary ties. Central Michigan (8-4) and Louisiana Tech (7-5) would get a bowl bid over UL, with Arkansas State (6-5) and Hawaii (7-5) joining that group with a win this week.

"The seven-win teams must be accommodated first, even with back-up agreements," said Water, who is also the chairman of the NCAA's bowl licensing subcommittee. "There are still a lot of moving parts to this thing."

Waters pointed out that there are currently 72 bowl-eligible teams for 68 contracted positions in 34 FBS bowl games. Louisville (5-6), Arizona State (5-6) and the UL-MTSU winner are one win from bowl eligibility.

Looks like 6 or 7 teams are going to get screwed.

i watched the game earlier this year where they "gutted out a win" (according to the nbc announcers) over 2-10 san diego state.  they are awful.  interesting how inept the two coaches from the bellicheck tree, weiss and romeo crennel, seem to be.

Can't blame them - it's like trying to have sex for the first time without watching a porn first.

Ok, you Texans fans: what are good areas of the stadium? What should I avoid? Are the seats in the 3xx sections a long way away from the field? Should I try to get seats in the 1xx sections?

I've sat in all sorts of sections in that stadium, but not all.  In my experience all the seats were good.

My seats are on Sect. 137, south end zone.  I've sat in the 300's in the south end zone, and those were good too.  The roof will be open, so it can get chilly and if it rains, you'll be sitting in it.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.
