Matsui
« on: September 26, 2008, 10:46:18 am »
During Matsui's long time on the DL, I had almost forgotten what a great player he was with the Astros this season and how much better the lineup is with him in it.  It is a pleasure watching him at bat and in the field.
Boom!

Agreed.  I am concerned, though, based on Footer's comments earlier this month, about his commitment (if that's the right word).  For all the hustle that he shows in the field, it's really surprising that he would slack (or appear to slack) when coming back from an injury.

I do not like the term "slack" there.  A player like Kaz is nowhere near as effective at just 70-80%, like some can be, and I think he knows that...I would rather he not play when he is not closer to 90-100%.  You get more from a healthy Newhan or Loretta if Kaz ain't healthy, at least that is the way I look at it.

to my untrained eye he looked a bit stiff in the field his first game or so back, at least on some of the plays I saw. I agree that he is really exciting to watch when he's in there. Let's hope he maintains this performance and stays a little healthier next year (perhaps with more frequent rest as Coop has mentioned giving him).

I remember hearing that he didn't have these problems playing in Japan.  Maybe they should make some changes to MMP to make the surroundings more familiar.  I'm thinking used pantie vending machines for starters.

That's what I meant.  Fragile was a bad word to use.

Fragile may not be the right word, but the guy is hurt a lot between his back, hamstring, and anal fissures.

First of all, I didn't bitch about Matsui - its an observation and not exactly something subjective, the guy spent a lot of time on the DL.  And what the hell does Chris Burke have to do with anything, who mentioned him? Jesus H stop posting.

Understood.  And that's why it's only two minutes and not a five-minute major.

Creepiest POTW.
