Alberto Arias has struck out 5 of the first 6 batters he's faced.
Add Man Sack to the list
"Twenty-four Twenty-five of these players hit their home run on the first major league pitch they ever saw."
Looks like Kaz had a first pitch dinger for the Mets, too.
I think Kaz had homeruns in the first at bat of his first two seasons.
Good for Arias, too. He deserves the chance for a W
Some good mojo in that pretty pink backpack
Wesley might want to ask for it back.
He did say he intends on keeping it at the end of the season.
I'm pretty sure Lurch was referring to the on-base traffic allowed by The Kid in the top of the 6th...
Sacco. First Major League pitch, Home Run!!!!
Has hatred precedence been established for tomorrow's series between the scrubs and co-ards? On the plus side, one of them will lose (glass half full).
scrubs must sweep get swept. And fuck the cubs.
Coming in late, but let me say this:Thank god Lance found a razor.
He's been mostly Judy since he got a haircut.Double off the wall, right on cue.
Bases loaded, no outs for Cinci
What, no shaving cream pie in the face for Saccomanno in the post game interview?
He opted out of the A's 70's porn look before he left Denver, thank God.
Berkman catches a pop fly for out one without incident.
In other news, the ESPN scroll just showed the AL Wildcard standings. They did not include the Yankees.
I didn't get to watch, how would you guys describe Arias?
calm down, that's his least vulnerable spot.
Impressive performance. He kept the ball down and the hitters off balance, attacking the strike zone most of the night. Nice splitter, good curve...With the bases empty he pitched almost exclusively in the zone, and when he ran in to trouble in the fifth inning(?) with the bases juiced and two down, he took a listen to Dewey Robinson and made his pitch to force the grounder to Berkman. Great job tonight.
Didn't start watching until the 3rd, but I'd say that he looked pretty good retiring the first 9 batters he faced (6 by strikeout). He had a lot of movement on his pitches, and was throwing strikes (or at least pitches that looked like strikes to the Pieroots). His pitches from the stretch (4th - 5th innings) were not as impressive, and JD noted that he was flying open and losing break on his slider(?) from the stretch. He very well could have been a bit gassed (from the adrenaline as well as the number of pitches thrown) at that point as well.
