Take that Milwaukee!  (I actually believe that the St. Louis Cardinals, more specifically LaRussa himself, have just taken a second shot to the solar plexus).

Isn't Rich Harden's arm about to fall off?

I see nothing to worry about when the club that ran Mark Prior and Kerry Wood into the ground acquires a pitcher with an extensive injury history.

For all of the "nasty stuff" you always hear about when commentators discuss Rich Harden, he doesn't have much of a track record other than injuries. In six seasons, he has only pitched in 97 games, winning 36 of them. Only twice has he pitched more than 100 innings in a season. HIs 77 IP this season are the third-highest total of his career. CC Sabathia has never pitched fewer than 122 innings in a season. Other than getting rid of Eric Patterson, I don't think this deal helps the Cubs that much.

I completely disagree.  "If" Harden can stay healthy (and I know it's a stretch) they now have two aces plus three other very solid guys in the rotation.  It also allows them to do something with Marquis other than pitch every five days.  And to boot it looks like it didn't cost them anything other than a few guys that weren't in their original plans this year anyway.  If Harden isn't healthy I think they still upgraded their rotation with Gaudin.

This may be why the A's traded him while in the midst of a race themselves...get as much for a possible Mark Prior as you can, while you can

I've never seen either one pitch, but is Gaudin really that much of an improvement over Gallagher?

I think he is, but I've never seen Gallagher pitch either.  I remember the cubs shuttling him up and down a lot last year which says to me there wasn't room for a guy of his caliber in a rotation that had Jason Marquis.  Gaudin can be downright nasty at times.

Oops, just read that he'll be in the bullpen so the analysis in my previous post is useless (much like my others).

Not to make useful your analysis, but you said, "If Harden isn't healthy I think they still upgraded their rotation with Gaudin."   Gaudin will start if Harden isn't healthy.

If it wasn't before, it probably will now based on the track record of wearing a Cubs uniform

The sweat that runs off Giambi in the shower is so high in steroid content that osmosis forces it into the cell structure of anyone who comes into contact with it.  This causing their penis to shrivel and - if untreated over time - turn into a vagina.

Harden has some of the best stuff in the majors, IMO.  The "if he stays healthy" has already been beat to the ground, so I won't get into it.

Regardless, fuck the Cubs.  They'll fuck it up somehow.

I thought Harden was supposed to start today and I tune in and Lilly is pitching.  Was I wrong on the assumption than Harden was supposed to go today?

Lilly was supposed to go today, Pinella said Harden would start Saturday.

He last pitched on Sunday, so today would've been short rest.

Cool, somehow I thought today was his day to pitch.  Not the game is boring, just that I wanted to watch Harden pitch.  I remember him from his Double A stint in the Texas League.  That guy was a monster!
