JD said Coop must be trying to get some high OBP guys on in front of Berkman and with the lefty (Reyes) on the mound (thus not much stealing by the Astros anyway).

I'm pleased with the Astros 1st (some Miggy music?) except for the Wigginton AB.

By any chance, is this ump named Angel?

Couldn't begin to tell you what the strike zone is today.  Wigginton took a couple his first AB that easily could have been balls (and at least one was in the Jones AB).

abercrombie reached for an outside sinker AND tried to pull it.  next pitch is about a mile outside, with abercrombie again whiffing while halfheartedly reaching for it.

No kidding. Deep drives into the right-center and left-center alleys (the one this inning would have been out in a lot of parks per JD) and solid professional ABs each time (fouling off a lot of pitches).

Top 5: Manny Acosta (RHP) pitching

1 out, runners at 1B and 3B

Balls sails on 1-0 count to Tejada, hits the backstop Loretta runs home, McCann has no idea where it is, takes a finky carom right to Texiera who throws home for the out (McCann never vacated the box as he hadn't a clue where the ball was), Lee advances to 2B [Per JD: most amazing play I've ever seen for sheer absurdity].  2 outs, rinner at 2B.

Tejada: line drive out to right [b (up and in), b (way up and in- see descirption above), bip].  3 outs.

Top 6: Acosta pitching.

Pence:  grounds out to SS - fantastic play by Escobar who ranges way to his right and backhands it deep in the hole, makes a strong throw falling away, throw high possibly pulling Texiera off the bag (hard to tell), but called out [fb, ss, bip].  1 out, none on.

Abercrombie:  struck out swinging [fb, fb, ss].  2 outs, none on.

Ausmus: struck out swinging [cs, cs, b, ss].  3 outs.

Middle 6: HOU 4, ATL 1

His foot came slightly off the bag. You can't go up like that to get a high throw without losing contact with the bag. However, on plays like that the first sacker usually gets the call as long as he keeps it close.

I'm having a heck of a time keeping up with PBP today... A lot of plays necessitating long-winded explanations.

I ain't been doing worth a crap in the (PBP) starters role lately. Could use a complete game "W" as a confidence booster...

Gameday has completely sucked lately.  Not at all reliable to use (real-time) to go back and double check pitches.

Been screwed up all day (e.g. showed Byrdak as the pitcher in the 8th for the entire inning).

Top 9: Bennett pitching (RHP)

Pence: groundout to SS (rolled over on a slider away) [cs (inside corner), bip].  1 out, none on.

Newhan (PH for Redass): walked [b, fb, b, b, b].  1 out, runner on 1B.

Ausmus: flied out to right, Newhan almost doubled up bu the throw sailed [throw over, throw over, b (high), ss (couldn't check his swing), b (high), fb, fb, fb (runner going), bip].  2 outs, runner at 1B.

JD/Brownie interplay break (after Ausmus couldn't check his swing): Brownie - Coca Crisp had the weakest swing of the day to end the game with the bases loaded against the Yankees; JD- guess that makes Rivera a 'cereal' killer

Erstad: scorched one up the middle, knocked down by pitcher, SS makes the throw to 1B not in time.  2 outs, runners on 1B and 2B.

Wigginton: walked [b, ss, b, fb, fb, b, b].  2 outs, bases loaded.

Loretta: soft looping double down the line in shallow left, 2 runs scores [b (way inside), bip].  HOU 6, ATL 1.  2 outs, runners at 2B and 3B.

Twinkie: Intentional walk.  2 outs, bases loaded.

Lee:  grounded out to 2B for the 4-6 force out [cs, bip].  3 outs.

Middle 9: HOU 4, ATL 1

Patriotic version. I bought one similar after the 9-11 mess.

Red, white, and blue inside the outline of the star. Nice cap.
