Nothing at all against Erstad, but he makes me think of Orlando Merced.

Merced was a good bench player/pinch hitter, which is mostly how Dierker used him. But IIRC, Jimy played him a lot; which meant to me the team was in trouble.

Erstad is a really good fit for the Astros, as long as he gets spots starts but primarily is a bench player. He said that in an interview at the beginning of the season. It was why he didn't want to sign with a team in the AL.

flour and egg (an egg per person) and a little bit of water. you have to be careful not to knead them too much or they turn into noodles.

i don't really care for dropped dumplings. it is not the way my mom and grandmas make/made them.

hey BG, my wife makes this very specific kind of stew every once in a while. it is really thick, kind of brownish texture, with boiled potatoes, carrots, and big chunks of stew meat. i've always called it "wilson county stew" because it seems to be served at pretty much every function i go to around there. are you familiar at all with this?

Yeah, the blueprint for this team said lousy pitching but enough offense to bail them out. The pitchers are living up to their part of it, but the offense sure isn't.
