IBB for Berkman to walk the bases loaded in the 1st inning.  Gotta love it.  Hope Lee makes 'em pay.

What happened?

La Gua Gua got hit on the wrist on a pitch up and in.  He stayed in the game.

And the Erstad for Pence move works out well for Coop.

The richter scale here in Portland gave it a 3.1...

Sampsons lead leg, has he slowed that up and is his delivery more deliberate?  Like he's checking every motion.

Here's what he said he was working on.

Quote
"I need to stay back a little bit more on my back leg and drive toward home plate and not overstride, which is causing my arm to get in a low slot," Sampson said. "I need to shorten it up a bit and get back to my sinker, get in command."

Whether that's showing or not, I have no idea.  If anyone can comment I'd be curious.

Dodgers can hit and have matched Houston's offensive output over a similar streak coming into this series.

Dodger feed.

The Dodgers, circa late '70s-early '80s, were my first True Hate. I had no such animosities prior to that. We just did not compete enough to garner such venom. Also I was young and less cynical. Then Atlanta. Now, the Cubs, even moreso than the Cards. FTCubbies.

Sampson seems very deliberate tonight.  But he's not particularly sharp.  The ab v. Jones was a good example, last outing somebody would have clobbered those pitches.  This might be more about the Dodgers than Sampson.

I guess you missed Matsui's season last year.
Since coming to the league, his hitting has been consistent and his durability marginal. As far as his last year in Colorado goes, I still have
some reservations trusting mile high numbers. All of that said, I really like him on the Astros team. His speed, fielding, clutch hitting, and
professional presence of mind have impressed me. Since I had not seen him on a daily basis with the Mets and Rocks, I never really noticed
his play. I don't ever really remember him damaging the Astros when they faced him. I guess his seeming lack of durability is what I remember more than anything. I do like him on the 'Stros this year. Very much.

Screw Mile High park factors, watching him every day, the guy knows how to hit.  And, the Matsui, Tejada dp turn is one of the quickest, and bravest, those guys stand in, Ive ever seen.

BALLGAME!!!  Catch y'all manana.
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

I've only rooted for the Stars.  What's your point?  The Stars are not expected to win the series.  The Stars weren't expected to win any of their series this year.  They've exceeded my expectations and I'm happy with what they've done this season.  I am just hoping they don't get swept in this round.  I don't need someone trying to rub in their loss.  You are just coming across as a sour winner.

You mean the same Charlie Pallilo who last season said that the Astros should bring up Towles and Manzella to the big club from AA?  That Pallilo?

The Pallilo that thought Ben Zobrist was the second coming of Ozzie Smith.

That's the one. It's always greener down in the farm Pallilo until the farm comes here and he sees that perhaps not.

What is this 'hockey' you speak of?

Apparently, up in the Northern states and some parts of Canada, the weather gets so cold that the water freezes.  Somebody noticed that the lakes and ponds froze solid enough that they could strap on some blades under neath their boots and skate around like a buncha Kansas City fag... errr... ballerinas.  Then someone decided to take a stick to some of those skating ballerinas, but swung and missed. But the skating ballerinas left the frozen water and the men with sticks were left with nothing better to do than to take said sticks and whack some frozen cow patties at each other.  Eventually they stuck a couple of nets at each end of the pond, taking a page right out of soccer and placing one skater in front of said nets.  They put five men to a side and started to skate around the men on each side of the pond slapping the frozen cow patty, now called a "puck" because most of them did not have their two front teeth so they couldn't pronounce "fuck" properly.  "Fuck!" was what they screamed every time they slapped at the cow patty and a piece would break off and hit someone in the eye... but I digress.  Soon enough, people started to come by and watch these men make fools of themselves.  "Imagine that, grown men slapping a frozen cow patty around like that" people would say.  Some one decided this should be a game so they wrote some rules for these guys and called this new game "Hockey" after the town mayor... George Hockey.  You can't call a game "George" they figured, so "Hockey" it is.

It became so popular, now folks pay good money to go see a professional variation of the same game, only the "puck" is now made of rubber.  Good call on that one, wouldn't want fans catching frozen cow patties, would we?  Hockey players now play for cash, American and while they still carry on the tradition of no front teeth, much has changed since that fateful first day.  So... ahum... what was the question again?

Speaking of this so called game called "hockey," you won't believe it but they actually let GUYS play soccer up here in Oregon AND THEY DON'T EVEN GET BEAT UP FOR PLAYING IT...  Go figure...

You drop a gem like this in some obscure west coast GZ thread? I now have a new-found appreciation for george. Tres bien.
