Lance DEFINITELY will not waive no trade to be a Yankee
« on: April 25, 2008, 12:45:52 pm »
The Yankees contacted the visiting clubhouse manager of every stadium where they play and asked that the candy and ice cream be removed before the team comes to town.

Of course, Berkman maintains his own supplies.  When the Yankees come to town will Girardi have him patted down?

Lance could make a killing selling his own supplies to the Yankees that series.  Black market prices of course.

Bottled water out on the bench has also been banned by the MLB.

Gatorade is Major League Baseball's "official sports drink." So instructions were sent that no player could be seen drinking anything but Gatorade in the dugout. Not even Aquafina, which is the "official water" of MLB. Not even bottles of water with the labels removed.

White Sox clubhouse personnel said if players take bottled water onto the bench, all the bottled water will be removed from the clubhouse as punishment.

This is saying something, but that's the most asinine ruling I've ever seen from MLB's offices.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Beats telling Biggio he couldn't wear the Sunshine Kids pin in a preseason game?

Well, since I read this yesterday, apparently there has been a correction:

Pat Courtney, a spokesman for MLB, corrected Price and his clubhouse informant in a telephone interview. Players are allowed to drink whatever they want—they just have to take the label off if it’s not a sponsoring brand, and that rule only applies to the post-season.

The first comment made a quick trip around the blogosphere yesterday...

That was the work of one rogue idiot.  I think this actually had some thought behind it.

What makes you think Lance would be willing to sell his supplies?

More likely, the Astros will send Lance into the visiting clubhouse at MMP before the Yankees arrive so that he can finish off anything that Girardi may find problematic.

The Yankees will be desperate so Lance will be able to sell the low quality stuff for high prices therefore netting a profit which can then be invested in higher quality sunflower seeds, skittles, nachos or whatever his little heart desires.

As long as he doesn't look like Scarlett ... that might be a distraction.

That is preposterous.

The obvious solution is to "bottle" whatever you want in approved containers.  I can only assume this is common practice, as I don't believe the judges on American Idol are drinking anything but vodka in their Coca-Cola cups...

I'd tell that son of a bitch Girardi to go fuck himself. If he doesn't want his players to have sodas or ice cream, that's his own business. If he doesn't like it, the damn Yankees can get dressed at their hotel or on the bus. Sounds like Girardi has a problem with his players snacking and his way of handling it is to remove any temptation rather than exercising discipline and control. He obviously wants to avoid any situation where he'd have to tell his players not to snack by eliminating their opportunity. What a chicken shit boss.

I wander if Girardi has ever heard of 7-11? I am sure his players have.
