Al Reyes knows how to party
« on: April 11, 2008, 01:27:44 pm »
To do on 38th birthday:
1) Get in a fight with a ceramic pot
2) Get tazed twice

Check and check.

Also of note, the Rays' spokeman is this guy, apparently.

We go now to Ty in Tampa, who's reporting live from the scene...

Affray?

Do you get bonus points for getting charged with something that only shows up on the bar exam?
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Its comforting to know that Wild Thing had a contingency plan to fall back on in case he couldn't get control of his fastball.

So his time in St. Louis with LaRussa was not ill spent.
He learned how to, while in Florida, get fried and show his ass.

Totally missed it. I was fighting hippies and getting dosed at the Wanee fest in north Florida.

Wow...how was it?  I've always wanted to go.  Some fantastic music there.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

It was fantastic. The Allmans didn't play as a complete band since Greg is battling hepC but they had the rest of the band there as the 'Wanee Family Band' with a lot of the other artists sitting in. Highlights for me were the Levon Helm Band, Del McCoury, moe and Derek Trucks/Susan Tedeschi Soul Stew Revival. Of course, the Mule is always a blast.

If you haven't been to the Spirit of Suwannee Music Park for a fest, I recommend you try one. Beautiful campground on the Suwannee River with a large field in one part for a main stage and then a smaller, natural amphitheater stage. Plenty of primitive camping plus hook-ups for RVs, cabins, canoe rentals, horses. It's a great place. They have 2 bluegrass fests a year that I try to hit at least one of; SpringFest in March and MagnoliaFest in October. Those have great artists and a nice vibe, if you like bluegrass.

Actually, when you mentioned it, I was thinking of SpringFest, which was what, two weeks ago?  But Wanee Fest would have been great too.  There's another festival there week after next, which is a "nashville" country themed gig, I believe.

I actually own some land not far from there.  It's the old family homestead that has been passed down and divided up.  I only own 20 acres, but it's only a few hundred feet from the river.  I need to coordinate that one year.

Since Spring and Wanee are so close together, I gotta pick one which has been Wanee recently. The Suwannee River Jam is the country fest coming up but the park has something going on usually every weekend. If you do decide to go to one, be sure to let me know.
