Lee: b, shallow fly ball to left, Bourn thrown out at the plate (not particularly close, IMO ball looked to shallow to challenge Soriano on).

Who do you want there, Blum? Tejada? Erstad's as good as anyone there without Lance in the lineup. He's a solid hitter and he's got a great eye and doesn't strike out very much.

Thought for discussion, since I really am not that experienced with this:

I have been of the opinion that Pence should be leaving an opportunity for Bourn and holding back a little. Is there a chance the manager is asking him to be aggressive, knowing that Bourn will make the pitcher try to quickly go after the hitter?

I'll hang up and listen.

Perez had the ball and touched the bag with his left foot well before the runner slid in. I don't know how much more out a runner could be. I have no idea how the umpire missed that call. It was not a close or difficult call at all.

Backe looks good.

OK, follow-up then: Pence, much to many people's chagrin, has been first pitch swinging in every game this year when Bourn gets on. Are the coaches not telling him to not do this? (Are the coaches putting on the signs giving him the green light no matter what?)

WGN is annoying.  Barely caught any of the Erstad AB as they had the camera on dudes singing instead of the game.  They pull that sort of crap a ton.
