What an efficient effort. Took us into the seventh. Only threw 71 pitches. It would be foolish to expect this out of him every start, but if he can do this against a pretty tough lineup, he can do it again. I'm fired up about the first run through the rotation. We came out of it 2-3, when we only averaged slightly more than three runs per game.

If he's sinking the ball and getting grounders, he'll post low pitch totals and wins.  This is the glorious upside that many of us see in Sampson.  What he needs for now is consistency, because the skill is there.

Right.  And measuring Sampson on one outing against the Cubs is like measuring the Astros on one outing against Peavy.  But opposite.  If you know what I mean.

I gotta say... no, I don't.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Not so...

Unless you are going to argue with the baseball genius of Fox , AOL, and SportsHubris, this was a huge upset today!  We will be lucky to win another one from the mighty mighty cubs.
