Mitchel Licthman, co-author of the "The Book," has a run-in with Justice. As usual, all the trouble started with a discussion about bunting...

I love Litchman's "Unless Cooper has read The Book, there is no way he would know whether a bunt in that or any other potential situation is correct."

Just amazing arrogance.  And yeah, Justice behaves like a child in the comments thread.  Vietnam?  WTF?
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

"I can’t think of a good reason why this guy would be acting like a prick other than he simply is one."

Bingo!
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

Nice link in the comments section to pinwheel in FJM.  I'm sure Cabrera is a FJM rant, but what the heck...  FJM on Justice
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

Both articles are seriously one-sided in terms of their arguments and of course myopic at best.  Are they worthy of anyone taking them seriously and also being nice?  They're not going to change their minds about sabrematrics, the bunt, Adam Everett and Brad Ausmus' value to a *team* sport.  The best thing is to ignore such people because they're not watching baseball any way, they're counting numbers and running stats through W.H.O.P.R. to get their kicks.

The problems, IMHO, is that everyone then gets in the same room and thinks they're talking "baseball" to each other.  Ahum, no they're not.

I appreciate the fact that the first two subject lines on the board now read:

"Richard Justice Being a Dick Again...
Can You Believe It?"
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Pinwheel is in fine form today. He starts off his blog post today by predictably second-guessing Coop for not walking Pujols last night, then proceeds to unload on a commenter who criticized him for yet again beating the VY/Mario/Reggie Bush horse on his radio show:

Move on, Dude? If you're above the eighth grade, you need to work on that vocabularly. Or you could go to John McClain's video library. They're done for people at your mental and emotional level. As for the move on, dude, part, I don't know how new your radio is, but mine has a couple of buttons that allows me to switch channels. I do this frequently when I don't like what I'm listening to. If you'd like to show me how to use your buttons, I'll be happy to. I don't know what you think you heard me say, but let me clear it up. Mario Williams has been the best player out of the 2006 draft. Before I get jumped by the Vince cult, I'm making that statement after two years. Five years from now, we may see it differently. Last year at this time, we certainly would have seen it differently. Do I like Mario? I do not. I can't stand the guy. I think he's a first-class jerk. Inside the organization, there are many that agree. That has nothing to do with his work ethic or anything along those lines. I personally don't like him. Mario hasn't played with the consistency of a great player, but he has been better than every other player in that draft. To discuss that pick, though, you have to go back to the facts as they existed at the time. Gary Kubiak's first decision was an endorsement of David Carr. At that point, all the QBs are off the board. Then it's Mario Williams versus Reggie Bush. I would have taken Reggie Bush. If the goal of the off-season was to give David Carr the best chance to succeed, Reggie Bush should have been a slam dunk. He hasn't played as well as advertised, either. Mario has played better. Kubiak was wrong about David. Then you get into a debate about the best QBs. Jay Cutler looks like he may be the best QB. Vince Young had one terrific year and one bad year. It was more than his play this season. His attitude apparently wasn't great. So there you go. Again, I don't believe I said what you heard me say. At the time, I wrote that the Texans should have drafted Vince Young or Reggie Bush. Based on what I knew then, I think that would have been the right pick. Today, I'm not so sure I would have been right, but I'm not sure Mario is headed for greatness. You're trying to make a complex decision simple. It ain't. Don't bother me anymore. Have a nice day, Dude.--Richard
