3/21/08: Marlins at Astros
« on: March 21, 2008, 01:03:36 pm »
Just started listening and box scores aren't up so can't give you a lineup yet.

Oswalt and Miller pitching.

End 2: Marlins 0, Astros 0

Astros 2 hits, Marlins 4 hits.
Oswalt got a double play in the first inning to get out of trouble, and then got a strikeout with runners on 2B and 3B in the second to get out of trouble.

Bottom 3:
Ausmus: flyout to left.
Oswalt: out
Pence!: gapper to right center for a stand up triple.
Loretta: out.
End 3: Marlins 0, Astros 0

In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

That's right, get your Oswalt Innings out of the way in ST.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Noticed back in 2005,

the "Oswalt Inning" the inevitable bump in every Sparky appearance where he flies apart like a Rock Em Sock Em Robot.

Cheito (pinch hitting for Oswalt) hits a 2 run shot to cut the lead in half.  Pence got his third hit of the day.

End 5: Marlins 4, Astros 2

Top 6: Borkowski pitching for Oswalt.  Cheito stays in and replaces Pence in right.

Baker: Loretta missed popup that drifted away from him.  Baker 2 2B. 2 base error on Loretta.
Miller: sacrifice bunt.  Baker to 3B, 1 out.
(?): great play by Loretta.  Shot to 3B, tags out runner and throws to first base for a double play.  3 away.

Bottom 6: Miller still pitching, but the bullpen is starting to warm up.

Lee: fb, b, fb, shot to 1B, knocked down and went to the bag.  1 out.
Tejada: b, b, fb, b, b. 1 out, runner on 1B.
Blum: b, b, fb, off Millers leg, 2B picks it up and throws to 1B for out.  2 outs, runner on 2B.  (Cruz thinks the runner was pulled off the base and Milo calls the ump lazy for being in the wrong position).  Marlins replace Miller (no indication he's injured though, think the ole pitch count was just getting up there) with Badenhop.
Abercrombie: flies out to left.

Top 7: Borkowski pitching, Klassen to 2B and some other changes I didn't catch.
(?): groundout to 1B.
(?): groundout, Berkman to Borkoski.
Willingham: singled to Cheito in right on 2-0 pitch.  Maybin comes into pinch run.
Jacobs: b, b, b, b. 2 outs, runners on 1B and 2B.
Diazza(?): bloop single, Maybin scores from 2B.
Castilla: grounds out.

Bottom 7: Badenhop still pitching.
Ausmus (0-2): fb, groundout to shortstop. 1 out.
Cruz (1-1, righthanded with HR, batting leftie this frame):  b, b, s, s, b, [The Grocer has come into the booth and is taking over for Milo, who's nowhere to be found].  Cruz almost homers from the other side, doubling off the wall (wind held it up).  1 out, runner on 2B.
Erstad: grounds back to pitcher, Cruz tagged out in a rundown, Erstad advances to 2B.  2 outs, runner on 2B [Oddly, no noticable difference between the Grocers PBPand Milos, looks like Milos made it back].
Loretta: fb, b, b, b, groundout to 3B.

End 7: Marlins 5, Astros 2

Top 8: R. Houston pitching. [Drayton and Milo are jabbering on, you'll get as much of a PBP as I do... Evidently Milo was out talking to Enos Cabel looking for old tape to show the 1B ump how to position himself to make proper calls, still going on about that play].

Baker: strikeout.
(?): bouncer to 2B.
(?): walk
Uggla: (unnamed baserunner steals 2B), homers on 2-2 pitch.
Gomez: b, bounced out to 3B.  3 outs.

[Almost no PBP this inning, just chatter.  Drayton giving Milo crap about his beard, Milo claims he's going to shave it off soon.  Drayton seems to be excited about hearing folks say Cruuuuuuuuuuz when Cheito gets a hit in Houston.  Lock?]

Middle 8: Marlins 7, Astros 2

Bottom 8: Badenhop pitching.
Berkman: b, b, base hit up the middle (11th hit by Berkamn of the Spring, 8th hit by Houston today).  Q runnung for Berkman at 1B.
Newhan: b, b, fb, fb (out of play), flied out to left.  1 out, Q on 1B.
Perez: ss, shot off third-baseman's body.  Throw too late to 2B.  1 out, runners on 1B and 2B.
Klassen: b, s, b, b, b (walk, 4th of the day for Astros). 1 out, bases loaded.
Abercrombie (2-2 today, beat out infield rollers): b, fb (right side), slow roller to short, only play at 1B, Q scores. 2outs, runners on 2B and 3B, Abercrombie gets RBI.
Ausmus: grounded out to short.

End 8: Marlins 7, Astros 3

Is she still coming back towards the end of the summer? I remember her absence being expected to last only about a year.

Top 9: Geary pitching, Ausmus catching still (I presume Q is at 1B).
Maybin: 1-1 (spun Maybin around on one of the pitches), fb, fb (shallow right), ss (striekout).  1 out.
Jacobs: b, ss, homered into right field.  Marlins 8, Astros 3.
Diazza: ft, fb, fb, ss (striekout #2 for Geary).  2 outs, none on.
Castillo: b, ss (check swing), b, fb, bounced out to Perez at SS.

Middle 9: Marlins 8, Astros 3

Bottom 9: Waechter pitching
Chetio (2-2, HR and double): b, b, cs, high fly out to track into center field (may have been held up by the wind a bit).
Bourn pinch hitting: bounced out to 1B on 3-2 pitch.
Loretta: s, b, ss, cs (strikeout).

Ballgame: Marlins 8, Astros 3
Tomorrows pitchers: Backe v. Arroyo.

Yeah, I think it's a one year residency type thing.

I can't believe I know this much about Yvette's life. That' s just sad.

Milo shaved the beard but kept his mustaches. He's now more visually recognizable as Milo. I gather that aurally he is still quite recognizable. With the beard and the hat and the shades and the gaunt look he looked a lot like the Unibomber after 30 years in the big house.
