« on: February 23, 2008, 02:53:03 pm »
On his first pitch from the mound.  That's just unfortunate...

Caught a spike and is "optimistic that some scar tissue pulled loose." Same knee he had surgery on in October...

This combined with Patton's injured shoulder.  Wade is looking like a soothsayer.

He knew about Patton's shoulder before the trade.

Hate that for Lidge. Hope it's not serious.

I'm definitely pulling for Lidge this year. Though I guess I wouldn't mind if he has a few Wagner-esque moments (on the mound) when they play the Astros...

Gets worse for Lidge.  ESPN is reporting that he "will undergo surgery on Monday to repair the meniscus in his right knee and is expected to miss 3-to-6 weeks."  Link.  I hate to see this, as I was (and will be) pulling for the guy this year...

I always pull for former Astros. Hope that the former golden domer is back out there for opening day.

Isn't this the same surgery Phillip Rivers had prior to the AFC championship game and was back in action within a week?  I really don't know how he did that.  I had me knee scoped last October to repair a torn meniscus and it was a couple of weeks before I could even bend my leg again and a month before I could run around lightly.
Oh God, I wish I was a loofah!

You probably didn't have the luxury of 24 hour medical attention.
Crazy Joe McCluskey was fucking nuts.  It's why they called him Crazy Joe.

Nice.

Quote
Moments after learning that his big off-season acquisition would require knee surgery and probably won't be ready for opening day, Pat Gillick huddled in his office with Charley Kerfeld, one of his top lieutenants, yesterday afternoon.
The laptop computer was open, and Gillick was reading aloud when a reporter entered the room.

Scouting report?

Uh, not really.

Gillick was captivated by the story of a Michigan restaurant that had a 134-pound burger on its menu. Apparently, it took three men to flip the sucker.

Ahh, Kerfeld.  Glad to see he's still around, and has a nice wikipedia page.
