Hot-Stove Question (not Astros-related)
« on: December 06, 2007, 10:01:03 am »
Why does every article about a 3b on the market list the Brewers as an interested team?

Did Ryan Braun do something (other than win RoY) to piss them off?  Are the Brewers planning to move Braun to the OF?

Anyone know what's going on here?

I've seen it written multiple places that Braun is going to move to left field (where Jenkins was), thus opening up room at 3B.  Braun was, um, not really a sight to behold in the field.

Ryan Braun was one of the worst defensive players of all time.  He had as much business at third base as I do.

I'll put this simply: slightly more than 1 out of every 10 times he touched the ball, he made an error.  This means that if he played a whole season, and had an average number of chances at third base, he would make about 44 errors.  As it was, his 26 errors were tied for most in the majors.

Braun is not long for 3rd base on defense.  He's not a butcher, but he will also cost them quite a bit with his lack of skills around the bag.  He's just not quick enough to be a third baseman.

Sorry Noe, but I can't agree.  He's as butcher as butcher gets.

i believe their plan is to move braun to a corner OF position, which now has an opening with the departure of geoff jenkins.  i am guessing they would move corey hart to LF, keep bill hall in CF, and braun could slot into RF.

Thanks.

I knew there were some "issues" with Braun's play at 3b, but admittedly did not see enough (or read enough) of him last year to realize that they'd be shopping for a replacement.

Moving him to LF or RF makes some sense.
