Worth considering for the right price ($$$s and length of contract).  Not someone to get into a bidding war for.

However, Drayton may be looking to make a splash to drum up some season ticket sales...

Just guessing:  4 years, $25mm plus option for a 5th year?  Too much?  Not even close?

Eric Byrnes just got 3/$30.  Boras wouldn't bother hanging up before he started laughing.

Understood.  It all depends on what kind of market there is for him.  No one is going to pay $20mm/season for Andruw, unless Beltran's leg falls off this winter.  If the Braves won't pay $13.5mm, it stands to reason (not baseball owners' strong suit) that the starting point has to be that or below.

Anyone think that McLane would go for $40mm for 4 years?  Bat Jones 2nd because he can handle the bat, has some speed and takes walks.  Makes the line-up look a lot more balanced.

Of course, all this presumes that .265 is the norm, not .222.

Unfortunately, I don't think this will be the case.  the BRAVES won't pay him $13.5 mil for next season due to wanting to focus on pitching and arb for Tex.  Borass will create the smoking and mirrors bidding war regardless of reality and see if anyone takes the bait.  Hopefully, the fact that the Angels, Mets, BoSox most likely will not be players will make this more difficult.  I can see the Yankees signing him, especially if playoff results are not palatable for Mr. Steinbrenner.

Jones had the 2nd worst zone rating of any regular CFer.  He stole 5 bases.  He had 3 assists.  The guy isn't fast.  He isn't a good defender anymore.  He wins the GG every year solely off name recognition.  If you think his offense will be a boost over Scott, go after him (though I imagine there are much cheaper ways to improve offense), but I seriously doubt Jones would improve the defense of this team.

Could, but I think won't. Crisp is locked up for another through the end of 09 season, and he has been sufficient in center.  You never know with Yankees/Sox drama/hysteria/middle school dance fight meets MTV's TRL but my bet is they spend money elsewhere.

He would be instantly better in CF than Pence, regardless of what zone ratings say.  And Biggio used to get a lot of outfield assists because people ran on him, not because he was a good outfielder.  But you are correct that Jones isn't the defensive wiz he once was.  That's the disconnect between Boras and reality, and that's why the Braves won't pay him $13.5mm for next year.

Surely the best thing about this is that his presence as a free agent could help stave off too much inflation in Rowand/Hunter/Cameron prices.

I can't help but think Jones is in for a bit of a surprise...a somewhat unpleasant surprise.  Then again, some baseball owners never cease to amaze me with how much money they're willing to throw at a player.....{edit}, particularly when said player is from the Boras stable.
