I had forgotten just how much I hated watching an Ensberg at bat.
BTW, in the 11th, they helped define a "clutch" hit for me. That elusive, hard to pin down meaning of the word.
The announcers said the Pads needed to get the leadoff runner on so the next guy could move him into scoring position so the next batter could get a "clutch" hit to score him.
SO...
leading off a critical make-or-break tie game in extra innings with a hit -- not clutch.
getting a hit to move said runner over to scoring position in this tense situation -- not clutch.
It can only be the one the drives in the run. All the work that went into setting up the play is just fluff.
