W: Brandon Backe
L: Jeff Bennett
S: Brad Lidge
AP RecapFooterBiggio started his first game since 1991 at catcher, Ausmus started his first game ever at a position other than catcher, and the Astros managed to win another Biggio Special Day.
2 innings of Biggio at catcher went without a hitch, including a nice pick of a curve ball swinging strike 3. Ausmus had one grounder, which he threw on to first for the forceout.
In the top of the first, Biggio doubled down the left field line, number 667, and Berkman absolutely demolished a ball deep in to the right field cheap seats to make it two nil early on. Backe gave back a run in the second, but had a great outing: 6 innings, scattering 4 hits and 1 run with 4 strikeouts.
In the bottom of the 5th, Backe cranked a ball just over the right center field fence near the bullpen to provide all the insurance the Good Guys would need.
Sarfate scattered 3 hits in the 7th and gave up a run on a sac fly to trim the lead down to 3-2 before giving way to the bullpen mainstays.
Qualls pitched a filthy 8th, giving up one hit and punching out two Bravos.
Lidge came on to seal the deal the deal in the 9th. Two weak flies to left and a nasty slider swing anna miss later, Biggio's second to last game was a W for the Astros.
Bidge had a nice night, going 2-4 with a single a double and a run scored.
No Gamezone to speak of, you buncha slackers.
Tune in tomorrow at 1pm for the real deal farewell to Pigpen.
