Before I simply fly off the handle, I'd like to hear from people who may have been watching more closely than I was. But it sure seemed like Lee gave up immediately out of the box on his third (!) GIDP. And when the Brewers kicked the ball around at second base, anybody who might have been hustling (like Berkman in a previous inning) would have been safe, but Lee was only half-way down the line. Did it look like that to anybody else?
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

It sure looked like he was loafing on that double play (after Berkman beat out a double play on the previous AB).  It looked as if the second baseman was ready to make the turn and realized Lee wasn't even running and just relaxed before making the throw.  Personally, I was hoping for a benching after that effort, but for whatever reason, that rarely happens anymore.

I don't remember this specifically but he did have a really tough day after that double his first time up. If anything it was more of a frustration tantrum than him not busting it down the line.

looked that way to me, but Lee wasn't shown.  all i know is, he was barely halfway down the line even after the double clutch

I saw the same thing. Not sure how close it should have been, but Lee was no where near first base to find out.

If you were anywhere near Cedar Park this afternoon, you would've heard the loud scream of "RUN DAMNIT!" from me on that play.  Inexcusable, especially after Berkman busted butt on a dp attempt the previous inning by the Brew Crew and made the second baseman rush his throw and score a run because of it.

JD said during last night's broadcast he was told by Coop that Lee is having hip problems and along with playing every single game this season, he has dead or tired legs.  JD also mentioned that Coop may be bailing him out for not running hard sometimes but it's possible that the hip is bothering him enough that he's not running as well as he can.

Lee needs to get this treatment, and be forced to watch highlights from Biggio's 3000th hit game.

That would be a dilemma for Coop then.  He needs to play Lee in games with playoff implications for sure, but he needs to rest him in other games.  I hear this is what he's going to do.  But it sure is frustrating to think that right now it's a hip but before it was just SOP for Lee to run... ahem... trot to first on every ground ball.  For a good contact hitter, he needs just that little bit of hustle when he does hit the ball to make the defense make the play.  It's true that anything can happen when you put the ball in play, so Lee needs to adhere to that and run (when he's not injured of course).

I forgot to mention that part.  My bad.

Coop did also say that Lee needs a day off and he'll get one in the next few games.

The funny thing was (and, heaven help us, I'm going by memory here), right about the time they were talking about the Lee issue was the play where Loretta(?) hit a grounder to second(?) and Fielder sort-of juggled the ball after a bad throw, allowing the batter to be called safe (even though he apparently should have been called out).  But the point is, had Loretta not been hustling down the line, it wouldn't have been close enough to maybe get the call.

Your memory is correct.  I'm not sure why Weeks didn't plant and throw on that play.

Brewers, as a team, also have issues with their defense.

Braun may be a stud at the plate, but he is a butcher at third. He is in danger of becoming only the 4th third baseman to have a sub .900 fielding pct. since 1916.
